Advice needed

Recently I stood up for one of my friends getting attacked online  from someone he doesn’t even know , I reported this guys hateful comments and post about his clothes he stalked my Instagram and say that I told people to report him for he’s shitty behaviour he then made a hateful post towards me and posted many things about me , Instagram says that they can’t take the post down , so that post of me is gonna be online forever , was I wrong in sticking up for my friend and telling people to report him to Instagram , how do I deal with the anxiety that his post of me is gonna be online forever

Hey @Lonelyboy17 , I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling so anxious about what happened, and worried that the post will be there forever. We have some good resources about cyberbullying here, - unfortunately it's something a lot of people go through.

The article I linked to has a few people who've been through similar things sharing what helped them - one self-care idea can be taking a break from social media, and taking a few days to focus on other things that bring you pleasure - maybe spending time in nature, or watching movies, or whatever you can do that's just for you. As @WheresMySquishy  suggested above you can also report to the eSafety commissioner (there's a link in the article I put there too) - or I also know some people who decide to face it head on, and call out the person who's bullying them.

Anxiety in general can be really unpleasant and distressing, but there's a lot of things you can do to help calm yourself down. Exercise, meditation, and mindfulness are all things that can be really helpful to reduce anxiety - there's also some great apps like ReachOut Breathe and self help for anxiety management .

Hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Hi @Lonelyboy17!

I'm really sorry that you were targeted after sticking up for one of your friends. 😞 You sound like a really caring person. It must have taken a lot of courage to stand up for your friend. Heart
It's awful that Instagram won't take down the post. 😞 I think the post says more about the bully than about you.
Are there any other avenues you can report the post to? I've read that you can report cyberbullying in other ways. Here are some articles I've found:
https://www.esafety.gov.au/report/cyberbullying
https://www.thinkuknow.org.au/report-cyberbullying
