Always wear sunscreen.
So I was listening to this song:
And I realised how many words of wisom, weird advice and lessons learned we have scattered over this community.
So I'm making a thread where we can collect the things that are really important to us in one place!
Here's one of my favourite pieces of advice (prepare for gif spam)...
Eventually you will be able to read through this thread and instantly become the wisest person ever, kind of like Rafiki. Hopefully the advice you have doesn't encourage anyone to hit anyone else with a stick. Other than that, I want to hear anything you've got! It can be incredibly deep and meaningful or just super practical like "wear sunscreen".
Okay, ready, set go!

@Ben-RO I really love that gif and this thread!!!
I often find myself thinking that people are "naturally" good at things and "naturally" really smart, which consequently makes me feel that I have no control over how "good at things" or "smart" I am.
Instead I find it helpful to remind myself that being "good" at things takes hard work and dedication and that with this I too can succeed at things.
I often look back over the internal and external locus of control theories:
- A person with an external locus of control believes they can influence and control events that occur in their lives
- A person with an internal locus of control blames external sources for events that occur in their lives
I think working towards having an external locus of control is really key to happiness and leading a fulfilling life because it enables you to take action and responsibility when things aren't going so well for you, set goals, work towards things and stay motivated by the knowledge that you are actually making a difference in your own life.
If anyone is interested in the locus of control theories and want to know more about it or need a reminder I would really recommend checking this video out (and there's heaps on the internet about it!):

I give myself this bit of incredibly wise advice when i am stressing out about something e.g. public speaking. "this is just another thing, i've done lots of things and this is just another one of them, now go and do the thing".
I know it should have been me that led the scots to independence in braveheart.
No matter how alone you might feel, there is always someone out there who cares about you and wants you to be happy.
Drink at least 2 litres of water a day, ideally 3 litres. Being hydrated helps everything, digestion, fighting off sickness, keeps you regular etc.
This is a quote that's probably from Dr Seuss that i try to live by.
"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
On the other hand though, the vast majority of people need at least 7 hours sleep a night. Just because you feel "fine" on 4 or 5 hours doesn't mean it won't catch up to you later on (as always, see a doctor if you're worried - that itself should be a separate piece of advice)
