School and hey
Hey guys! How is everybody doing? being in year 12 this year has been a struggle especially because of COVID19, any other year 12 students here?
Comments

I’m not in year 12 but I can definitely agree with you that school has been quite difficult this year!
I hope you’re going okay 🙂
Do you have any plans for after year 12?
Im doing okay but motivation is getting harder and harder to obtain! How are you doing ? I plan to go to university next year to study psychology!
I’m fine 🙂
Ooo that’s so interesting! My step sister is currently on her second university course to become a psychologist.. there are actually a few people on here that are doing psychology in uni!
these forums offer a lot of experience too 🙂
Yeah, i like helping others and supporting mental health so i thought it would be good to join and hopefully make a positive impact on other peoples lives 🙂 Have you finished high school or still in it?
I’m currently in year 10 so I’m still in high school! Unfortunately..
Are you actually back with face to face schooling where you are yet?
Yes! we have been at school for around 5 weeks or so?? now the first 6 weeks of our term was online and now we are at school but this is the last week of term 2 holidays start friday! Although, it aint holidays as I have so much homeworkkkkk
What about you? and ohh year 10 my sister is in year 10!

Relatable with the homework.. do you think you will get it done before the holidays are over? Got any other plans?
Well, at the moment we are basically having a second wave :(. So might be going back into lockdown, I probably can not go out anywhere for the second holidays ruined 😞 And def not, i have so much homework like reading two books (i hate reading sorry) and answering like 50 questions for them, analysing texts and writing a few essays for them, and this is just english! English has the most by far!
That sucks that you’re having a second wave.. I live in a small town so there hasn’t been any cases here but we still have to do things when restrictions are introduced because it’s for the whole state 😞 are you in Victoria? I think it’s pretty bad there..
I too am pretty frustrated that restrictions are not easing - just keep your head up and keep as safe as you can! This is just a short set back and hopefully the state in back on track soon!
Hello @Starfish7 and @StormySeas17 - sorry to butt in. I just thought I'd say that this is anonymous forum and unfortunately personal details cannot be shared. However, you are more than welcome to continue chatting about this topic on this thread . I'm also studying psychology so I could offer you some insights at some point!
@Maddy-RO @Starfish7 Thanks very much for clearing that up! Yes I'm happy to talk about it on this thread or we could even start a new specific thread! I know there's a lot of existing or aspiring psych students wandering around these forums who are keen to share their secrets A lot of the psychology content is also the same across different universities because to become a psych you need to go through certain pathways and do certain subjects, so most people I know have similar experiences. One thing that I do find is different and a bit interesting is that some universities focus more on the mathematics/statistics and experimental side of it (they sometimes call this 'rats and stats'
), whereas others focus more on social and emotional psychology! I think you can also tell a lot by the kind of research the university is doing. There are also differences between arts psychology and science psychology courses in the levels of maths or science you need to do!
@Starfish7 and @Bananatime04 I'm sorry to hear you're both feeling overwhelmed and a bit unmotivated too! I know the exact feeling It sucks if you've got to spend your holidays studying. Have you made a study schedule or set up some goals for these holidays? If it were me I would make sure I had at least a day a week to be completely study-free. It did wonders for my self-care when I did that and I ended up being more productive both with my study and spare time
I also saw you guys have a lot of reading to do? There are a lot of good study websites out there that can help you understand your book faster. Especially if you do some reading about it before you start, you don't miss anything when you do have to read it and can get through faster because you know what you're reading and recognise some of the key ideas! Do you guys have any special methods you try for studying?
How was your day @Bananatime04?
Starting a new thread about studying psychology and universities would be great and where do i find said websites??
@Starfish7 I'll set up a thread I want to study psychology!
Hmm depends what you're studying, but some good websites I've used in the past are Sparknotes, Shmoop, Gradesaver, litcharts, cliffsnotes... I would use a combo and whatever I see twice is probably important! Reading Australia also sometimes has some really in depth analysis of Australian books or authors in the curriculum. You could also just type in the name of the book to google and then 'quotes' or 'themes' or 'summary' after it and see what comes up. Sometimes you can also find prezis that teachers or students have made I hope that helps!
Hey @Starfish7 and @Bananatime04 ! I'm not in year 12, but I am studying psychology at university if you ever want any info on what it's like or even just pathways to university Or if anyone wants study tips! These are stressful times and there are lots of ways to find your path!
It's really scary with all of these new cases for everyone. A local school in my area just got a case, I had to text my boss because I work at a tutoring school which may have had students from there! Luckily we didn't but it still got me worried
