Hey @wanderingwasp !

That is awesome you applied for a paid child protection internship!!! I really hope you get it too that would be awesome!

AND Go you for getting an interview in retail! How did the interview go?

I totally understand this dilemma and the feels of wanting to do the right thing by your employer - however! You are under absolutely no obligation to tell the retail employer that you have gone for the CP internship - even if you get the retail job and start it, you don't have to tell them anything until you are offered the internship and you've accepted it. It could be an idea to check what the notice period is for this retail job just so you're accross those requirements if you do get accepted for both the retail job and the internship and need to leave.

I get that feeling that it doesn't feel morally the best to leave a job after just starting, but I promise you that these things happen ALL the time and they would completely understand that if you get offered an opportunity you are more passionate and excited about you wouldn't want to turn it down. How is that sitting with you?

This guidance comes straight from the mouth of a career mentor of mine from when I was in a similar position years and years ago. I didn't tell my back up position employer that I had also applied for something else I wanted more - and I was glad I didn't tell them, because I didn't get accepted for the thing I wanted! Then I ended up doing the back up role and actually really loved it and was glad I followed my mentors advice🥰 I hope this is helpful! Keep us updated!
