It sounds like you've tried really hard to find a way to navigate this friendship, only to be confronted with anger and gossip, which I think most people would struggle with. I know I would!
You've tried to have honest conversations, set boundaries and take space - which is super mature. You seem like the kind of person who is capable of positive and healthy friendships, and that will help you make (and keep) friends beyond school. I want to acknowledge those strengths of yours 🥰

I'm sorry to hear that you're unsure about whether to go to formal. Do you want to share some of your concerns? We have an article called Decision making 101 which has some good tips. One of them is creating a pros and cons list - I always find that helps me weigh things up when making a decision is hard.
