Support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
Hey everyone,
We wanted to check in on you all, as there have been some really distressing events within our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities recently, including devastating acts of racism across the country.
We are here if anyone in the community is in need of a yarn, and encourage all mob to continue to practice self-care and to reach out for support during this time. Wellmob has some really great resources on ways to connect to mind, body, culture and healing that might be helpful. iBobbly is also a really great app to support emotional wellbeing, and you can check out our Yarn Up space for articles to read through as well. If you'd like to chat to someone about how you're feeling, or get some more support, you can reach out to :
13YARN - 24/7 culturally safe crisis support
Brother to Brother - 24/7 crisis line phone support from Aboriginal men for Aboriginal men
Thirrili - support for individuals, families, and communities affected by suicide or other significant trauma
Yarn Safe - Mental health and wellbeing resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people
Manual of Resources for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention - Practical resources and videos supporting positive mental health and wellbeing
For our non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, it is important that we continue to educate ourselves, be supportive and stand up to racism. You can learn more about what racism is here and how to be an ally to First Nations people here.
