Weekly Wellbeing: Finding Inspiration!
Hey everyone! Time for another Weekly Wellbeing 😄 Love this one, such a good idea @Jess1-RO !
Wellbeing Wednesday; Finding inspiration
Inspiration can take many forms; maybe it's a person, a saying/quote, an artwork, a book, a speech, a video... the list is endless!
You know when something is inspiring because it just "clicks", gives you a feeling of motivation or energy, and can lead us to take action in our own lives! Wherever that inspiration comes from, it is a valuable source of creating meaning, purpose or motivation!
This week we want to hear about something that has inspired you!
What is something that has inspired you and why?

I've been watching a lot of videos from those cooking and food channels on youtube like tasty and epicurious recently and it's inspired me to try and make more homemade food instead of going out and buying it. I'm planning to make my own hummus to eat with toast for breakfast since it's healthier than eating peanut butter or nutella. I saw a video about making homemade hummus on youtube and it looked so simple and easy that I had to just try it. Buying at woolworths or coles is definitely more expensive than making it myself at home, so I'm excited to make it soon.
Well done @ecla34 and @Tasi for submitting your thesis! Such a huge amount of work. I just submitted mine too recently 😄
@drpenguinthat's awesome I hope you enjoy making homemade hummus! Youtube is definitely my inspiration for cooking too, you can find a recipe for anything!
What is something that has inspired you and why?
I've recently had the privilege of supporting some people that were going through a really difficult time through my student placement. I have felt very inspired by their resilience and strength to keep on trying despite so many hardships.
I'm also two weeks away from finishing my University degree and am also feeling really inspired by the freedom that non-student life holds 🙂 This quote has been particularly relevant lately -
Thanks you for all the lucks guys! 😄
@Tasi that sounds like a really lovely way of drawing inspiration from the world around you! I love going for long walks and listening to music too 😄
@WheresMySquishy love love those quotes! especially the last one 'im not perfect, but i'm enough'
@drpenguin ooo yummy hommus! ket us know how it goes! 😄
@May_ that's so exciting that you're nearly done! such a big step!
This a super cheesy/lighthearted example, but because i'm in the home stretch of writing my thesis I'm adopting a "What would Hermione Granger do?" attitude towards my studying.
She's a character that always inspires me to really enjoy my work and reminds me how passionate I am about learning! (even if less so for assessments ;)). Lets face it, she made studying cool 😛
Hehe @ecla34 I like that! I mean she is a pretty badass female
(Also good luck with the thesis I literally just gave mine in!)
I think this is going to sound a bit corny and lame but I always get inspired by nature and music!
I really love to travel and I always feel inspired in a new place.
But even going on a walk on a local bush track or at the beach can inspire me! Especially if I take my earphones and listen to some music :catvery-happy
@ecla34 I also get inspired by particular characters! Works of fiction have often been a source of inspiration for me, especially in difficult times. The good thing about them is that you can try to pick up on and emulate good qualities from the characters, whilst striving not to be like your most disliked characters.
A while ago, I was watching someone stream a game series and even though we are in different fields, one of the characters was basically the practitioner I eventually hope to be. She had good bedside manner and consistently went above and beyond for people, was honest and respectful towards her clients, was not afraid to stand up to authorities when faced with ethical dilemmas, and just an all round good person. I hope I can have as much integrity as her in my future career.
I also find inspiration in quotes and written works! When I see a quote or passage I like, I write them down in my phone. They inspire me to keep going and not give up.
Here are some of them:
'Sing the song that only you can sing, write the book that only you can write, build the product that only you can build, live the life that only you can live.'
'If I am not good to myself, how can I expect anyone else to be good to me?'
'I'm not perfect, but I'm enough.'
Good luck with your theses @ecla34 @Tasi! I remember how hard it was doing mine and rewriting it all at the last minute and even on the day I had to bind it. I still got a great mark even though I wasn't expecting it, so I'm sure you'll both do well.
