I know that feeling! Then it can be kind of hard to even pick something and just get started!

4. What do you think is the best thing to do when you feel overwhelmed with all of your responsibilities?

Saying no to things like hanging out with friends (which can actually be bad if you say no too much)
Ask for a hand (which can be hard to do but is so helpful)

Saying No is something I've really had to learn to do. Saying No to events if I know it's going to be too much and forgiving myself for letting people down or not being able to be there for them.
I have to help myself first before I have the capacity to help others - that has been my biggest lesson.

I would probably say make a priority list to see what is most important to be done first, tell people when you cant complete your responsibilty, always ask for help and make sure you put some time away to relax like others have mentioned already Smiley Very Happy

Just the other day my friend asked to switch dates for a volunteering task we do on a rotational basis because she was overwhelmed with other work she had to complete, so I happily offered to switch dates Smiley Happy

@safari93 that is so true. I often only stop when I get sick and just can't do anymore

@Ben-RO that is a genius app. I think I need to install it right now

I love asana @Ben-RO it's true that theres an app for everything these days.

@safari93 yeah I do think sometimes it's too late when we finally stop. We often don't realise how stressed we are until our bodies tell us, i have friends that get rashes sometimes, headaches, or other issues. Really important to listen to our bodies.

Me personally: If i know this week is going to be really busy and full on then I try to make next week a bit more relaxed so that I can sort of "see the light" although I used to love being busy. It was a great distraction so I can see how some people would prefer it.

For me at least, literally cutting back on them. Not that it happened easily - it usually happened after some serious health crisis or sudden realisation that I could barely look after myself.

Hey there @FootyFan26!! I think you and @j95 hit on a really useful sign, which is when you stop enjoying your work and feel like you're just going through the motions. Definitely been there!

Hey @smiley_!! Hahah no worries, at least you made it Smiley Happy

I've definitely had those nights too, where you spend more time thinking about what you have to do the next day than you do sleeping, and the whole next day you're a crabby mess

@smiley_ that's interesting because I am the opposite when I'm busy, I am exhausted by night time when I'm having a busy week! It's interesting how everyone is different like that

@Stealth_ninja I think for those of us who tend to schedule in too much, scheduling in down time can be super effective, and also making sure no committments enroach on that time

originally posted on 09-11-2015 8:40 PM

Completely agree @safari93 @Craycray17 i think during that down time it's good to set aside time without phone or without people too. Otherwise we're always having FOMO or wanting to be somewhere else instead of present.

Also @smiley_ I know what you mean about sitting up and night thinking about your to do list. Reachout actually has a great app called Worrytime that lets you schedule in time to worry. Before i had the app i was doing this thing where i'd
postpone worry to 9pm and then before bed write down everything I need to do and when so it's out on paper before bed and I can just look at it in the morning and GO. But yes i agree, it's definitely a sign there's too much happening!!

originally posted on 09-11-2015 8:46 PM

@Stealth_ninja yes I've heard of this great app that ReachOut has, unfortunately I'm one of those people who gets bored of apps after a few weeks haha

Fair enough @smiley_ You need to find what works for you! 🙂

Yeah that one that i used to get a lot is the nightmare about sleeping in and missing my exam. I'd be half awake the whole night waiting for the alarm to go off haha @safari93

originally posted on 09-11-2015 8:42 PM

@Stealth_ninja Nice plug for Worrytime haha! Thanks 🙂

I really like the idea of writing down a to do list as well. I might have a crack at that one tonight and see how i go 🙂

originally posted on 09-11-2015 8:45 PM

I'm smooth like that @Ben-RO haha yeah if you're a words person it can be really helpful! Also sometimes when i start to get nightmares/or sleep badly that usually means somethings up!

originally posted on 09-11-2015 8:48 PM

I use this app for keeping track of all my work stuff called Asana, so I am going to use that to write a list of things before i leave work each day so I can put work stuff to bed before I even go home THEN i'll do it again for rest of my life stuff.

@stonepixie Putting self-care items on the list is so clever!

@FootyFan26 I was sooo bad at to-do lists until i started using apps on my phone instead of paper ones. For some reason that worked really well for me. Although i have never thought of using it as a way to sort out the racing thoughts before bed!

@j95 I shall also be going to Kmart a lot 🙂

I can never commit to schedules or to-do lists. The only timetable I've ever committed to was my school one because you gotta just roll with that.
