Have you ever had to say no to someone who wanted to hang out with you? What was it like?
Right in the feels!
I say 'no' quite a lot! Mainly because I live 4 hrs away from the rest of my fam bam. It sucks, and I feel like I miss out on a lot.
Then when I lived on campus, I would say no to things but never really feel like I missed out on anything, because I got my uni work done, YO! Also, always turned down group study, because we didn't study the same things and it just ended up as a massive distraction.
And with my friends now, it is basically going backwards and forwards looking for a date we can meet up. Some are easier than others to set a time with.
My entire life can be described in one sentence: It didn't go as planned and that's okay. ツ

@Ben-RO well RO is the one thing I would do in the evening, but it doesn't feel much like ~work~, plus if I feel a little on edge I can leave it and relax a bit and then go to sleep. So maybe knowing that a little flexibility won't hurt is okay

I had. Nice nap today! Did you guys know that you should keep your naps to 20 minutes to avoid getting into such a deep sleep that you wake up feeling groggy? @j95 @stonepixieA nap is great when you're feeling overwhelmed, just as long as you have an alarm set to keep you from sleeping the day away 😉

Good day all!!! Sorry to get in so late - had some other social commitments and just now back 🙂
I say, I guess I just couldn't say NO to that one, but neither could I miss the GR Chat sesh....
So I'll just 'jump in' - if that's okay?? 😉

@stonepixie yep I'm very much the same! always come out of it ok though. Except one thing... I don't think it's a nap if you went to bed at night and just didn't get up the next day.- Mark as New

Yes they are awesome, @Stealth_ninja, they really do work 🙂@FootyFan26 yeah just in general not being able to see friends can be tough sometimes, and if there are any issues with stepdad then we can totally talk about that too

@Craycray17 it's normal for me not to go to anything social outside of school. Those were just my reasons for not being social. There's nothing wrong in that sense or with my stepdad or anything.- Mark as New

@smiley_ I definitely got a lot out of having a diary this year - just having somewhere where you know everything has been noted is such a huge relief and security for me, I don't even know how I survived my whole life without one!

What strategies do you have for juggling several commitments? Or what do you think would help?
Well when I know I would having a busy week or had plans organised for the weekend, I would make sure that I got a head start on some tasks early to make sure I wasnt as stressed later on or feel bad/regret having that relaxing weekend
I think a diary helps alot of people, just to keep track of what you have already committed to in the future and to make sure you dont over commit that week!

@j95 that's very important, not all things are equally demanding, so self-care sometimes depends on the situation you are going into. Good point!

This is me when it happens, @j95
That can last an hour or a whole week, but I always get back up. What about you?

@Ben-RO I have do-nothing time as well! Usually in the evenings, since that's when I like to chill, but after a certain point in the evening (it differs from each day) I won't do anything which is work-related

What strategies do you have for juggling several commitments? Or what do you think would help? Some of my comittments can really take a toll on your wellbeing if you don't look after yourself (like my volunteering with disadvantaged young people) so I'm learning to schedule some self care before or after being in a situation that may make me feel a bit overwhelmed/triggered/fragile. And also asking people around me for a break, whether that be 5 minutes or a couple of days.
