What are some of your expectations when seeking help? This can be if you've done it many times before or even just thinking about getting some help for the first time.
I expect to feel...
- Safe
- Understood at least a little bit
- Listened to
- Respected
- That the other person won't go and talk to other people about what has been said
and this is big one for me
I want to feel like I have control over my treatment and that I do have choices

Those are some pretty major things that you have mentioned, @j95. I'm glad that you are able to identify what makes a good help session for you. 🙂

Most definitely, @j95!I went to a place where the people on the front desk didn't even know the client names. I thought that was pretty badass!
But also, as someone training up in the field, you should know that not only are they breaking your trust if they do that, they are breaking the law to a certain extent, excluding duty of care.

Being understood, and also understanding the kind of help that's offered, for example if it's medication, how it acts on my brain, if it's some kind of conversation, how that helps! Feeling like I have some options to choose from and knowing what to expect would be nice too.
Oh and most importantly to be taken seriously!
