Haha @j95 i think you would probably be a zombie too with only 2 or so hours.

I wonder if you can actually live on that? I'm sure your body woul eventually just be like GOODNIGHT mid-shop at the supermarket and you'd be out napping on floor.

How do you think you would feel if you slept the OPPOSITE of what you normally sleep? (eg twice as long, or half as long!)

Hmmm. Well i reckon my average sleep is really about 5 hours... and I got twice as long as that I would be stoked! I rekon I would wake up basically bouncing out of bed and wanting to go for a run!

Although... sometimes when you sleep for ages it makes you extra tired? But i'm just going to go for the first option i mentioned because that would be the more ideal outcome!

I actually love like 10hours + of sleep but it is way too much, I wake up and still want more sleep. I love to sleep though 10hours of sleep is beautiful.

I always feel guilty if I sleep in for ages, like I've wasted my whole day. If I get less sleep then I tend to function alright, but if it goes on for a few days then I tend to get over-exhausted and throw up. Usually happens if I have early mornings at work but I'm having late nights >_>

@ruenhonx Woaaah 10 hours is sooo long! I actually don't think I could manage that even if I tried!

Hey @KitKat thanks for coming 🙂
Yes I totally agree wasting a day is something I do all the time its so sad actually.

10 hours is like nothing, If I could I would sleep the whole day. I just feel guilty after 10 and I'm like okay get up.

wooooo @KitKat welcome.

I completely agree with wasting your whole day if you sleep for too long. like some days you need the sleep... but other times you wake up and you're like shit its 4pm and its dark outside. what happened to the day?

Speaking of this zombie / lack of sleep sort of stuff makes me wonder about the next GR question.

4. How do you actually know when you haven’t had enough sleep?

Are you literally the walking dead?

Do you put milk on your toast?

Do you wear pyjamas to school?

Do you go to sleep in the movies?

@lanejane That is the most accurate summary of what it's like to not get enough sleep that I have ever read! Two other major culprits for me are:

Did you try and get into the shower with your clothes on?

Did you spray hairspray on your underarms instead of deodorant ? (Bonus points if you don't even use spray deodorant and use roll-on instead, haha).

I wouldn't have a clue to be honest because I can run on 3 hours sleep and have for 5 days straight with no physical affects.  The only time it affects me is when I absolutely need sleep and start to drift off or can't stay awake.

Sorry for being late too.  Totally forgot this was on.

Thanks for joining us @FootyFan26

You are super lucky you can run off such little sleep. I rekon heaps of people our age would experience some really shitty stuff if they were only running on three hours.

I think they say like stress, over thinking, anxiety and stuff like poor time management are all common when you dont sleep. And stuff like being upset (so meeeeee) and relationship problems also happen.

Obviously not for everyone! But just some common side effects of no sleep!

Going back a bit sleeping half (4 hours) would be fine but I wouldn't be able to sleep more than about 9-10 hours.  Even if I tried to go back to sleep.

Man I wish I had a cut off point for sleep. My cut off point is my alarm and even then I'm like nahh I can do another 3-5 hours haha

@ruenhonx that was for 5 days straight on a holiday.  Probably because I was in an unfamiliar place.  Slept from 11:00 - 2:00 and couldn't get back to sleep even after laying there for hours.  I don't really know how I could function normally because everyone else slep At Least 10 hours and were taking naps during the day.

Most mornings I wake up at 6:00 even though my alarm goes off at 7. I don't mind though - just an early body clock!

YAY THIS CHAT IS GETTING SO AWESOME NOW WITH SO MANY PEOPLE

SO MANY AWAKE PEOPLE

Our next question for tonight is....

5. What are some of the ways you ensure to get the right amount of sleep?

Eg. Go for like a huge run before sleep? Don't have a can of v 5 mins before bed? Sleep at the same time every night? Chill before bed?
