Yeah! Loving your analogies @roseisnotaplant I find especially when Im super stressed or get overwhelmed but something it looks much less scary on paper!

I sometimes find that if I go to someone for help and im not really ready for it, it sometimes makes it worse? I have a few really close friends and family that support me but I think for me it matters WHO but it also matters WHEN I go to them. Like how receptive am I to listen to what they have to say. Also, reachout community, other people that have also experience anxiety - I feel they and sometimes I just need someone to be like "yeah that sucks, keep swimming"

Hmm, I think we are pretty much ready for another question!

So you share these thoughts or feelings with someone else?  Who do you turn to for support when you're going through a rough time?

Not many people.  I've started turning to withdrawing which doesn't help at all and I need to change that, for now I don't really have anyone I have the guts to ask in person.  Something that definitely needs some work.

What are some things we can do to feel a bit more comfortable with talking about this stuff if that's what we want to do?

I find that writing a letter/Facebook message is a lot less scary than talking about stuff face-to-face 🙂 interested to hear if other people have different coping strategies for this as it's something I struggle with

  • Thinking in advance about what we want to say and the key points we want to get across can help us feel more confident and ready to talk.
  • If you've chosen to talk to someone, there's a reason you've chosen to talk and a reason you've chosen that person, so be confident in that.
  • Talking can be hard and overwhelming, so have something nice planned afterwards.
  • Sometimes the people we are talking to want to fix everything or talk a lot or don't know what to do, so it can help the person you're talking to help you if you tell them what you are wanting from them and why you're telling them.

Hmmm Something else i have just realised is I often feel more comfortable opening up to someone who opens up to me... it's like if they are comfortable sharing that stuff then i know we're can probably both share on that level. So maybe combining with @lokifish's strategy of sharing a little bit, you could share a bit as a way to see if they are comfortable with talking about stuff like that and then maybe share a bit more. @FootyFan26! You should read this bit of the conversation when you're online next mate!

@Ben-RO I agree someone who opens up to you makes it easier. I think it also helps with trust and building the relationship when both people feel able to open up otherwise it can be a bit one sided and draining. This obviously applies more to friendship type relationships than professionals who or treating us or someone older we are seeking wisdom from.

What are some things we can learn from bad experiences?

There is so much we can learn. I think bad experiences are often the things that allow us to grow the most and learn the most about ourselves. Bad experiences help us learn how to better handle the tough times and things we can do to try and stop things getting so bad. It's so often said, but it's really true we learn from our mistakes, although obviously a lot of our bad experiences aren't our mistakes. I definitely think I'm a stronger, more resilent and more empathetic person because of my own bad experiences.

@Randomness totally off topic but I'm glad I'm not the only one who's obsessed with even numbers 😛 (multiples of five are okay, but seven or nine make me crazy haha)

As always, my answer can be summed up with a Winnie the Pooh quote 😛

That makes a lot of sense @Ben-RO. I think it's good to test the waters, and maybe say, 'What do you think about this thing?' Or, 'Have you had experience with this thing?' Instead of 'I'm struggling with this thing PLS HALP!' That you you can guage if they're going to be understanding or if you would be comfortable sharing more with them.

How to better deal with them and manage how your feeling based on experiences. Maybe how to avoid bad experiences too, but I think it's also easy to get caught up in avoiding them too much and get back into that spiral.

While bad experiences are pretty craptastic the skills you develop in the process of overcoming them are super powerful and can help with pretty much all the challenges life can throw at you.

@Ben-RO That's another good strategy 🙂 however I think it can sometimes backfire because you hear them open up and think "their problems are so much worse than mine, they're going to think mine are pathetic". Or maybe it's just my brain that does that

Well if we all type really really quickly, we have time for one more question!

What are some things we can learn from bad experiences?

@lokifish! Hey, good to see you! Kind of. What's the equivalent of 'good to see you' in internet terms...

Either my friend, or the internet (namely here :D). It's just good to talk about it with people you can trust as validation or support.
