Hobbies - What are yours?

I've always found it very difficult to find people who share the same hobbies and interests as myself, most likely due to there nature. I've always been a computer programmer and consequently a game developer. I've been doing it for years and I have never meet anyone else who shares the same passion for it as myself.

So my hobbies are:

  • Computer Programming
  • Games development
  • Playing games
  • Boxing
  • Watching Sci-fi

But I spend most of my time developing games

So I ask you guys, what are your hobbies? Which hobby do you spend the most time doing?

Hey!

It's been really cool reading everyone's hobbies. Game development sounds really interesting and I'd be really interested to hear more about it.

For me, I love painting, going for bushwalks, listening to music, catching up on tv shows and sometimes weights, sometimes skateboarding (although I'm not very good!). I also like learning about history or politics or science (and with that, sometimes getting into heated debates!)

Hope everyone's going well!

- anything ocean related really: paddleboarding, bodysurfing, ocean lap swims, just normal relaxing beach days and swims, free diving and snorkelling etc
- exploring, hikes and bush walks, camping, travel
- collecting insects, creating art, listening to good music and finding good places to eat
- watching Hayao Miyazaki films and anime and films in languages besides English

I could go on but probably should stop there. Not even sure what qualifies as hobbies.

@RedKombi I was feeling very related until I read your last message.  As with the ocean and adventure that is exactly me and couldn't say it better myself. Sorry I realized this was uploaded a while ago and perhaps your interests have changed.

right, isn't the ocean awesome! i love summer when the weather is good and you can go to the beach whenever you have the chance - althougth i did get incredibly sunburnt when i went on the weekend 😅

alongside the ocean and adventure, what other interests do you have @Dirtbike_gang ?

@fishyie thanks for replying to my post. Yes summer is a amazing when you can go to the beach. Are you in Australia? Because we're not in summer anymore over here . I have many interests but my main ones would be dirt bike riding I just live the adrenaline rush you get from being on a dirt bike. I also love swimming (ties in perfectly with my love for the beach). What other interests do you have@fishyie we might find out we have more interests? Look forward to your response. 😀

hey @Dirtbike_gang! i'm up in QLD so our summer seems to last forever haha, i always forget that it's now another season! wow dirt bike riding sounds so cool, how did you get into that?

i'm a big fan of nature, there is a garden near my house that i'm trying to get out into more. i also do crochet and it's really rewarding when i finally finish a project. i imagine dirtbiking would be pretty rewarding too?

Dirtbike_gangPosted 27-03-2022 05:57 PM

yes I'm in Queensland too@fishyie they do seem to last forever don't they?

I got into dirt bike riding at a young age as my dad was into it and therefore passed the love to my brother and myself. Ever since I first jumped on a bike at the age of 3 I loved it and have been riding on my my own since 5. I hope to race one day but my parents are against it therefore I doubt myself as I have no support behind me.

Funny you say that@fishyie as I received a crochet kit as a Christmas gift and have been meaning to start it but the instructions are confusing and I don't know how to do it. I also forgot to mention but I do a bit of knitting.

Yes@fishyie it is pretty rewarding especially when I was younger and progressing as a young kid I found it very rewarding.

Dont mean to be rude but just wondering how old you are? Totally understand if you don't want to share, just wondering out of curiosity.

@Dirtbike_gang they really do seem to! i'm eagerly awaiting the cold, can't wait to be able to wear my comfy jumpers.

wow, starting at 3 that's amazing! it's really nice that you're able to share something with your brother and your father. i'm sorry to hear that your parents are against your racing, that must be really disheartening to not have their support. is there anyone else in your life that does support you wanting to race?

that's so cool that you do some knitting! i think i understand why the crochet instructions might be a bit confusing, i've heard that if you learning knitting first it's harder to learn crochet and visa-versa. i would definitely struggle learning to knit! what would the kit make?

i can't share my age due to the anonymity guideline, but i graduated for uni last year to give you a bit of an idea (wow that makes me feel old!).

@fishyie thank you for speaking to me the the reach out ppl really help but it does just help to speak to someone (just a normal person living a normal life) so thanks 😊

no unfortunately there is no one else which really sucks and is annoying.

the kit makes 2 headbands, yeah That actually does make sense!

Yes I totally understand and forgot about that. What where you studying at uni?

@Dirtbike_gang no problem, it's really cool hearing about your hobbies and interests! sorry if my replies are a bit late, i'm still getting used to my "real world" job hours haha.

i'm sorry to hear that no-one else in your life is supportive of your racing. you sound so passionate about it, so i believe that if you ever do start you'll be amazing at it! how often do you get to go riding nowdays?

all good, there's quite a few guidelines to remember haha. i actually studied psychology! it was a 4 year degree so pretty long and i'm just taking a bit of a break before i apply for my masters.

@fishyie

No that's all good, I'm just glad that when you did have the opportunity, you replied that's all I care about, that in the end you did reply, I don't really mind how long it takes hahaha.

hahah I would assume that would take a while to adjust too.

Yeah well I would hope so too as yeah I'm really passionate maybe to passionate for a girl but anyways. I'm not the best rider but I definitely have a love for the sport and a great passion and it's that, that will get me far because I'm so determined. If I'm lucky like 3 times a year but my dad is hoping to take us riding this Easter holidays as he has some time off, but who knows with him as he always says stuff but never does it, which gets really annoying.

Ok that sounds very interesting, I would love to know more about that actually. Yeah that is a long time and it's good that you still like it as I know some people they go into the degree so passionate about whatever there studying and than when they finish after the 4 years they no longer have that passion. Yeah I'd bet you need that break and that it's well deserved.

@Dirtbike_gang

reading your perspective about your dirt-bike riding made me smile so much! it's great to hear how confident you are in yourself and that you don't let the opinions of your parents affect you (too much). and you're absolutely right, that determination and passion you have will take you so far. fingers crossed 🤞that your dad does take you out over the easter holidays. i imagine it would be really frustrating that he'll say things but not do them, does that happen often?

yes i find psychology very interesting too! there's so much that we don't know, or that we thought we knew but now believe otherwise, about our minds. i was lucky to figure out that i was passionate about psychology early on, when i was in tenth grade, so i always knew i wanted to study it in uni. have you given any thought to what you might do after you finish school?

Seems you guys have some awesome hobbies (ones I hadn't thought of too!).

I enjoy riding my Enduro bike (like a motocross bike but can be road registered) around, I'm not very good yet as I'm only learning but enjoying the process (except when I fall off numerous times haha).

I also enjoy listening to music, I'm a very much into Rock/Hard Rock/Gothic/Gothic Metal/Metal/Hardcore etc (but you'd never guess it if you met me on the street).

@Mockingjay i hope we can connect as I ride a motorcross/enduro bike too and have been since a young age. Yes I enjoy riding too but not falling off, even the most experienced riders can and will fall off but you get better with practice.

Making things! I love to make things and usually it doesn't matter what it is. But lately I've had a thing for making jewellery. I also watch lots of tv, read lots of fanfiction, and spend lots of time fangirling over harry potter, glee, chris colfer, and anything musical theatre.

I really enjoy anything that is a was of time... looking at clouds/stars, roadtrips, making daisy-chains... really simple things..
I also seem to spend a lot of time on Youtube and Tumblr and my bro's Xbox and reading...and anything artsy and musical (I play a lot of instruments, that's enough to keep me very occupied ).

Wow, people sure do have a lot of hobbies, I thought I had a lot :P.

It's actually really great to see everyone has a way of keeping themselves busy and having those things you love to do in the not so great times to pick yourself back up :).

I think we can count sleeping as a hobby just for the sake of it 😉
