I am loving all of these stories, especially the ones about turtles!! I have been lucky enough to swim with a few turtles that were over 100 years old.
I am obsessed with soccer/football so I really loved this story Here

So many great news stories!
I am a big believer in the power of pets and the importance they have in our lives. I found this great article about a university pairing undergrad students with a guide-dog in training!
Amazing to see some of the great things some unis are doing- this one has benefits for both the student and the puppy!

@Jess1-RO I think that's a great idea! It's a win-win situation.
At my sister's hospital, some therapy dogs were brought to the patients by volunteers and the patients were allowed to pat and feed them. My sister loved it!

@WheresMySquishy @Jess1-RO at the moment I just "borrow" any dog who walks past and looks friendly
I befriended a random puppy while I was away, getting puppy cuddles just makes my whole day better.

@WheresMySquishy wow! what a remarkable impact he made! 33 kids getting a higher education because of one man is amazing!!
Was shown a very awesome article recently about a source of solar power being used to provide families with electricity and allow their kids to attend school! So awesome and cool when developments in technology make such profound changes in people's lives! 😄

@Jess1-RO plus the future human who'll be working with the puppy!
I love that idea, especially the idea of free puppy cuddles!

@lokifish I recently heard about Pedro the tortoise.
He's a double amputee, and had lost both his hind legs in.. separate incidents somehow.
His vets had a really good idea though:
He now has prosthetic "legs". They are made out of lego and he can move around now.
And that is how a child's toy was able to give a tortoise his movement back. He can go forwards, backwards, turn around, and also looks a bit like a race car. He's living with his human family, eating lettuce and strawberries.
The link is here:

i really loved reading this story. theres so many mishaps and negative stories within the medical world but hearing how a remote community was sponsered by an anonymous donor for dialysis machines is fantastic. it means more people get to live a better life for longer while waiting on transplants and things
