Favourite Memory and Future Experiences

Hey everyone,

I thought I'd pop up an activity here that I'd love us all to try.

It can be really hard sometimes to remember the things that bring us joy. When we're really stressed, it can be easy to focus on all the bad things in our life. I'm stressed, I'm tired, I have so much to do, I can't get a job, I'm losing friends etc. etc. etc. the list can go on and on.

Not to say we shouldn't acknowledge the negative things. It's important to recognise and be present in our feelings no matter if it's negative or positive. It's also completely ok to feel sad, or angry, or stressed. It's all a part of life. The range of emotions we feel is important. If we were never sad, how would we know what it means to be really happy? Perhaps we can enjoy that happiness even more after having experienced some sadness.

But, it might help us to remind ourselves of some happy memories and the things we have to be grateful for in this life journey.

Sometimes, when I'm feeling down, I like to reflect on things that I've experienced in the past that I'm grateful for, and then think about things I have to look forward to. It lifts my mood when I do this activity. I hope it helps you for a moment today too.

So here's my little reflection for today.

Favourite memory

  • When I was little, my family and I would have movie nights. It was the only nights we would get our dining table and chairs and place them in front of the TV. We'd get bbq wings, chips, and pizza, go to a video store and pick out a dvd, and watch the movie together at home. Those were some of my favourite nights.

Something to look forward to

  • I'm excited to be done with my undergraduate studies this year. I've worked so hard, and still am working hard. I want to do more travelling and see more of the world after this year is over. I absolutely can't wait!

I'd love it if our community here could try to share those two things. Your favourite memory, and something to look forward to. I'm excited to read them!
