New Year, New...Journey!

Hey everyone!

Thought I'd pop in to wish you all a happy new year, new beginnings, and continuing journeys.

There's a great deal of people associating the new year for big optimistic times, but it also means that coming to the end of the year - it's also a time to reflect too. Every year, there seems to be this huge pressure to suddenly have an almighty change or think of something magical to do (and have resolutions Smiley Frustrated)

So, I just want to find out...

What were the negatives of 2016 for you?

What were your positives of 2016, from looking at all the negatives?

What small stuff do you want to do or bring into 2017?

E.g.

What were the negatives of 2016 for you?

  • Switched between too many different medications
  • Sucked so bad at uni this year
  • Lost my car and got kicked out of home

What were your positives of 2016, from looking at the negatives?

  • Now on a stable medication and mental health-wise, going A-OK
  • Putting through an application to re-enrol and have re-found my passions in a different field Smiley Happy
  • Getting a new car next week and now staying with my partner
  • Bonus positives: Been adventuring in the job realm and am extremely lucky to be working as a support worker and as a project officer Smiley Very Happy

What small stuff do you want to do or bring into 2017?

  • Being able to be more free to explore hobbies and interests
  • Cutting my hair short and getting a new tattoo
  • Be able to donate some blood (before getting a new tattoo, haha)
  • Finally get my new car
  • Be able to travel for fun more freely Smiley Happy

Feel free to add more bonus positives and small stuff! Don't ever feel pressured to think that you've gotta make big stuff happen because it's the small stuff that usually leads the way.

Hope you all have a happy new year!!! Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart Heart

Re: New Year, New...Journey!

What were the negatives of 2016 for you?

I had a pretty good year personally - the stuff that effected me the most was the global stuff that effected everyone. There was some stuff that went down (and is continuing to go down) in my friendship group, but it's a work in progress. It wasn't the best of years. But it wasn't a horrendous disaster.

What were your positives of 2016, from looking at all the negatives?

  • I had some really super great teachers, who I am going to miss a lot.
  • I came out! Sort of. I mean to like three or four people. But it feels great and I'm way more comfortable with myself now than I was at the beginning of the year.
  • The doggies won the grand final. I'm a cat's fan, so I shouldn't have been as excited as I was but it was VERY EXCITING.
  • New episode of Doctor Who, even if it was just the Christmas special. (Whovian? Me? Nah...)
  • Started a band with my friends.
  • Won a small yet exciting film competition.
  • Won NaNoWriMo. This was pretty cool - I have never written as many words as I did in November.
  • Went on an awesome hike for five days along the coast, and discovered my love of travel and the outdoor and not showering for five days.
  • Discovered RO!

What small stuff do you want to do or bring into 2017?

Next year I want to work on three main areas - personal development (practicing self-care as a more routine thing, working meditation into my day to day, doing a bit more excersise, etc.), academic development (I'm getting to the pointy end of high school. Kind of.), and creative development (writing, reading, doing stuff with the band, making films).

Ngl, I'm glad this year is (almost) over. It's been rough, but I've also learned a bunch, and some pretty cool things have happened along the way.

Happy 2k17 everyone Smiley Very Happy

What were the negatives of 2016 for you?

  • Gastroparesis flare up- it's a condition where the stomach doesnt empty at a normal rate, causing quite a lot of pain!
  • Recovery from major surgery took longer than anticipated
  • Losing interest and motivation for uni

What were your positives of 2016, from looking at all the negatives?

  • I've coped with both before, so I can do so again
  • I've learnt loads about myself and I've come out the otherside
  • The things I learn at uni may not be useful initially, but the info may be useful down the track, so the time hasn't been wasted.  It's something to remember when I want to give up Smiley Happy

What small stuff do you want to do or bring into 2017?

  • Begin doing Yoga again
  • Resume counselling
  • Meditate
  • Put paint on canvases
  • Write and read more
  • Buy myself a juicer since buying veggie juices are expensive and its a nice way to begin the day! Smiley Happy

What were the negatives of 2016 for you?

Surprisingly, it took me more effort to create this list than I thought it would.

  • I didn't really make any progress with creating lasting friendships/I didn't really do much to maintain them either
  • I could have made a more profound effort with my health

What were your positives of 2016, from looking at all the negatives?

  • I got a new job
  • Went overseas for the first time
  • I moved into a nice house!
  • I got a lot of new materialistic things that I wanted
  • I distanced myself from negative people in my life - setting boundaries, go me!

What small stuff do you want to do or bring into 2017?

  • Try to go to the gym, 4 times a week
  • Drink more water, my daily goal is 2 litres
  • Put university first
  • Prioritise my health more than I have been
  • Reconnect with friends/people that I want in my life

As an overall reflection, this made me realise that a lot of the small negative moments I felt didn't amount to much. At the end of the year, I didn't have as many negative occurences to point out as I thought I would. I think overall it lets me know that I should focus more on the bigger picture and not the little small moments that won't matter at the end. Smiley Happy

Re: New Year, New...Journey!

What were the negatives of 2016 for you?

  • Dog died and other dog is sick, and we have talked about her getting put down
  • Relationship ended in very bad and stressful circumstances
  • Rollercoaster of emotions and was at my lowest at one point (although i say that every year -__-)
  • First semester of uni was extremely stressful

What were your positives of 2016, from looking at all the negatives?

I actually had a really good year so these are kinda unrelated to the negatives

  • Got a lot closer to my other partner and made lots of future plans together and started implementing them
  • After relationship ended badly, we talked and have no animosity and I feel as though I have grown from the experience
  • Finished a bachelor degree!!!! and did really well in my last term!!!
  • Found a good psychologist and went back on medication thats been working
  • Slowly but surely getting better at coping with my mental illnesses

What small stuff do you want to do or bring into 2017?

Be more confident and unafraid to demand to be treated properly. Stop apologising if I have nothing to be sorry for and I just feel guilty, or because i want to appease the other person. Improve my skillz (poi spinning, photography + modelling, makeup, and learn more german, doing more exercise)

I want to continue being the ambitious and driven person I am beneath my ten layers of anxiety and fear of failure.
