Is it okay to be stressed about exams? Why/why not?

Yep, it's totally okay, stress is a heaps natural response to a challenging situation. It's more about healthy stress ves overwhelming/unhealthy stress.

What does it feel like to be stressed about exams, when do you start getting stressed?

Like there's a sense of impending doom or something. It just somehow feels like an apocalypse and you've stocked up all the rations you can but you're not sure if it's enough. Except you know that it'll be better once it's over.

I think I get stressed when I know for sure that I'm a little behind. Gotta stay ahead of it haha

Haha, I like that @RevzZ. Exams = APOCALYPSE.

I only really get stressed if I know there's stuff I don't know *cough* maths *cough*. I'm sure that will change as I get deeper into VCE though.

I cram the morning of 😛 But not even at home, at school, right before the exam! That's something I need to work on though, having a better work ethic.

@FootyFan26 In my final years of high school, I would write up a cheat sheet of important info the night before then read that both at night and then while walking to school the next morning (before the exam :P) it's not the best, but so long as you've got something, it's a start 🙂

How do you prepare for exams? Are you a studier, or more of a last minute crammer?

Both sadly. I study constantly and because I still think it's not enough, I cram my head with new bits of information which probably wasn't covered in the course but which I think is useful or cool.

I'm definitely a crammer.... what i've learned is to cram ahead of time rather than at the last minute 😛 But i think that i actually like the pressure and to get a lot done in a short amount of time, it's just not the best time to get it all done the night before the exam!

In the answer to the next question, I am a crammer. I try to do some study, but it never lasts long and I just quickly write up my cheat sheet and be done with it. 😛

Night @letitgo!

Speaking of cheat sheets, I heard from someone about someone else who wrote up cheat sheets and just kept rewriting it by consistently condensing and summarizing it, leaving out things she knew and putting things back on if she forgot. Then by exam period, she would have pages of notes down to one and then a couple of sentences.

Someone is committed @RevzZ 😛 But that IS a good strategy 🙂

I am a mix, I like to do some small bits of studying right when I know the exam is coming, organise my notes, become highlighter mad... and then the night or two before I will cram..

If I like the subject, I am a studier. If I don't, I read over my notes the night/morning before and hope for the best. I know I need to develop better habits given I'm approaching the pointy end of high school...

Okay time for the first question!

ExamQ.png

Okay that's not really the question, but you can see why people might be a bit stressed about exams!!!!

How many exams have you done in your life? What was the best, what was the worst?

Too many. VCE Exams in Year 11 and 12 and more recently, exams each semester for uni. I think my VCE exams were probably the "best" because I'd been preparing the whole year. I had a great support system and I knew that I'd done everything I could and was prepared to accept the result, whatever it was.

In contrast, I've felt very unprepared and unmotivated for uni exams...

I'm going to say B. My second guess would be D.

I have my third lot of exams in 2 weeks. My best was PE where I got 86% and was most confident with and worst was maths (fitting) where I got 14% which I was I was lucky to get as well as completely breaking down in the exam room and having to be taken out 😮

originally posted on 29-05-2017 8:25 PM

Well i have no idea... about the first question, but i think it might be B...

and for the second question, i have done a looooot of exams. I don't know how many, but definitely more than a hundred!

My best one was my biology one in year 12... i got 98% right and felt great about that. My worst one was physics in first year uni. I got 30% and kinda knew i was going to get about that going in to the exam. Not the best experience!
