[LIVE GR]: Bucket lists and experiences!

The events of this year have given a lot of us time to reflect on our lives, and what we hope to achieve after coronavirus lockdowns end.

Whether you're keen for beach trips or book clubs, join us tomorrow night (Wednesday 12th August) at 7:30pm AEST to discuss:

What's on your bucket list?

Can a person's bucket list change over time? How do you decide if something's worth adding to your bucket list?
I think most of us explored this in the first question! It can definitely change over time as you research, gain more experience, or simply grow-out of it. Someone's priorities are different from when they're ten to when they're twenty, so it isn't always going to stay the same! For example when I was ten my 'bucket list' included wanting to be a famous conversationalist like Bindi Irwin, and have the most memorable birthday party imaginable. Not exactly priorities now! Smiley LOL

I agree with everyone else, research and deciding if things are really for you/ fit in with your goals is the key. There's no real point to adding something to your bucket list just because everyone else is/ wants to do it if you don't believe you'll enjoy it.

Another question for us all!

Is there anything you're really looking forward to doing right now? Big or small!

At the moment, I want to go to our big local shopping centre. I was going to go last week or this week, but the weather was bad and I got a cold. It's a good thing I didn't go because there ended up being a COVID case there. My mum went on that day, but luckily it was earlier on in the day and she didn't go near that area. They've added a lot of new shops and renovated part of it so I'd like to see what's changed. Since I don't have to self-isolate any more because I tested negative, I'd like to go next week when I'm feeling better.

I wish I'd seen this sooner cause I've definately come late to the party! 🙃 But I've loved reading through all your responses! They have been making me smile and remind me of some fun and exciting times and of things I really want to do..

I think it was @Hozzles and @indieinsanus but I can't quite remember.. I have lived overseas and travelled solo and sure, it might seem scary now as a female but I promise once you go you'll look back and wonder why you were so scared! IT WAS THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!!! Just wanted to make sure I added that in here cause when I was reading through I saw some of you talking about travelling, that's a passion of mine and I cannot recommend solo travel enough! You will not regret it!! 😊

@MB95 Thats so cool, I can't wait to travel solo. I am honestly more frustrated then I am scared, about having to be more cautious when travelling solo, but I'm still really really looking forward to it. I would love to backpack around Europe some day, and maybe do something like the Inca trail or go to the Himalayas.

Where did you travel to?

I think one of the advantages of travelling solo is that you can do exactly the things that you want to do rather than arguing with the people you're with about what you want to do and having to wait for them to get ready @MB95  @Hozzles @indieinsanus! I haven't travelled solo but there are lots of things I would do.

Is there anything you're really looking forward to doing right now? Big or small!
As soon as I'm able to I'd like to go on a guided camping trip by myself through the outback! It might not be for a while but I'm excited anyway. I'd also like to visit my extended family who live away as soon as lockdown ends! Heart Also looking forward to maybe getting through my undergraduate degree this year? We'll see, I'll get there eventually! Smiley LOL

In smaller things (other than looking forward to sleeping, if that counts Smiley LOL), I'm looking forward to cooking some muffins/ cookies over the next few days!

I'm looking forward to going to the library again, once it's safe to do so! 😄 Heart
I moved in november and put off joining the local library and then it shut down 😞
So my goal is: obtain library card and borrow all the books

*sighs longingly*

@ecla34 yess, I'm also looking forward to the one day I have enough energy and concentration to make a dent in the book I'm reading! Smiley Tongue also looking forward to the next sunny day, whenever that is, so I can sit in the sun and chill!

@indieinsanus that sounds so nice! Happy early birthday! Smiley Very HappyHeart

That's amazing @MB95, what an incredible experience! I really want to travel solo ASAP. Smiley Happy @WheresMySquishy haha that's so true! I always hate when the holiday has long days, and everyone gets cranky at each other. Sometimes I'd just like to do things at my own pace, and the trips I took in Arizona are a testament to that! Smiley Tongue

I'm going okay thanks @ecla34 😊

I would love to jump in and respond to these questions properly but I'm not exactly feeling 100% and just exhausted so might jump on and respond tomorrow with a couple of other users to keep it going if that's okay?

And I lived overseas for 2yrs. I only worked for one year but then travelled and just hung out in my favourite places for the other year!

And I based myself in Ireland @indieinsanus and then travelled Europe. You will all absolutely love it!! It's making me excited just hearing about everyone wanting to go. As long as you're always being aware of whats going on around you at all times (not that you're anxious, but just that you're aware and safe) then it will all be fine 😊 Very excited for you all!

Have a great night guys, I'm loving the thread and reading all your answers! 😊

What are the three biggest things you want to do one day?

What are the three biggest thing you want to do someday?

1. Backpack across Europe, and have a white christmas there

2. Live in a nordic country for a while and take time to write and create in a peaceful environment.

3. Go on a solo trek in a reasonably remote part of the world. Something like walking through parts of the Himalayas or maybe going with a guide on a trek through Peru. I would love to do the Inca trail.

Everyone mentioned career goals, so I'll add becoming a journalist and helping with human rights.

I loved this chat tonight, it was really fun.

What are the three biggest things you want to do one day?
Hmm, I'm not sure. I've done a lot of things that I've wanted to do already. I thought that doing some of those things would make me happier, but they just made me happier temporarily. But I'd like to smash some career goals and see other countries. Some of my nursing home residents told me to travel while I am still young. 🙂 I was just thinking about places I could go to.

Welcome back!
