Weirdness

Lately, I have had a lot going on at school. Over the weekend I did nothing but work from 9am to 1am to finish a gigantic assignment before having a maths test the next day. Both those things are out of the way now but I feel uncomfortable? Anxious? Stressed? I don't know what it is, I feel like I'm sitting behind myself,  or that I've shrunk inside my body and I'm detached from my skin. I couldn't bring myself to go to school today. I don't know what to do about it.

Hey @Blurryphaced, how are you feeling today? School sure is tough, and having things back to back really doesn't help. I remember having to take days off when I was at school because I was just too overwhelmed, there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking mental health days. Did you feel a bit better afterwards?

Hi @Blurryphaced , I'm here to say I totally relate. I just finished a big stats exam at uni yesterday (congrats on getting your assignment done!) after also submitting a thesis which took up every waking hour of my day for a while there. I definitely feel very strange today, tired and almost like I'm looking for something, even though I should be happy I completed all of my work. I find this happens to me every time I get through exams. I think it's all of the nervous energy that I a) just feel exhausted and a bit dead inside and b) I'm not totally out of that workaholic state of mind and am looking for the next thing to do. For me it can last weeks especially because I then worry about getting my results! Do you think these could be some things you're feeling?

 

How did your day away from school go? Did you find that it helped to just do nothing for a day?

This sounds so incredibly full on, I'm sorry things are so stressful at school at the moment. Has is been like this for a while?

Good on you for getting your maths test and your assignment done - have you got a lot more stuff coming up or will you get a bit of a mid-year break?

 

It is understandable that you would be feeling stressed given everything you have got going on and it sounds like it is really starting to impact your wellbeing. Have you been thinking about getting som support for this from a psychologist or GP? Let us know if you want to chat through this a bit more 🙂 

 

Are there things you are able to do to help you feel a bit calmer and more grounded? This is an older thread but it has some really nice tips in it that might be worth trying. 

It is totally ok that you didn't go to school today. Some days you really just need to rest and take time to yourself. Have you been able to do anything relaxing today?
