Self-Love Songs
We all know the role that our confidence and self-esteem plays in our general lives, and sometimes we can feel on top of the world and other times we can feel really self-conscious. The other night I was thinking about the impact music has on me and how I feel. I thought it was applicable to the community and felt like it'd be nice to have a thread dedicated to songs of Self-love and self-confidence.
Have a song you LOVE that promotes, encourages or articulates self-love and/or self-confidence ? Post it below and let us know what you love about the song/artist 🙂 ❤️
I have a few and I've actually created a self-love playlist for myself but here are some of my personal favourites. I found it so hard to only pick a couple so I've got a whole list for you here 🙂 (Keep tuned there will be more coming too!)
Perfect - Pink (Clean version) I love PINK! I love her no BS attitude and how she says it like it is! And this song is no exception! I have all of her songs and I can listen to her on repeat!
Basically I like this song because it's saying you are prefect the way YOU are as you are!
Favourite part:
Pretty, pretty, please, don't you ever, ever feel
Like you're less than perfect
Pretty, pretty, please, if you ever, ever feel
Like you're nothing. You're perfect to me
Which brings me to my next song which is kinda older but has a very similar idea
Who You Are - Jessie J I love the way Jessie J is straight to the point here about being true to yourself
Favourite Part:
Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars!
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing,
It's okay not to be okay...
Sometimes it's hard to follow your heart.
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising,
Just be true to who you are!
Try - Colbie Caillat I love this song and the video clip for it. In the video we see the artist Colbie Caillat and other celebrities, take off their makeup and show us their natural selves. I feel like it promotes self-love and being you you are naturally
Favourite part:
You don't have to try so hard
You don't have to bend until you break
You just have to get up, get up, get up, get up
You don't have to change a single thing
You don't have to try, try, try, try
Katy Perry Known for her out there attitude and fun part pop songs Katy Perry has gone through some alright struggles herself and she has previously shown this in her 2012 Documentary Part of Me and then again when she live streamed a counselling session to the public. I found it really hard to pick a song from Katy, however I chose these two because they both relate to self-love so well.
Favourite Part:
I found I had to love myself, the way I wanted you to...
...love me,
No more second guessing
No, there’s no more questioning
I’ll be the one defining who I'm gonna be
No concealing feelings, or changing seasonally
I’m gonna love myself, the way I want you to love me
Favourite Part:
I know I am enough
Possible to be loved
It was not about me
Now I have to rise above
Let the Universe call the bluff
Yeah, the truth will set you free
This one's a little bit cheesy in some ways but i do love it xx I find it really uplifting
omg I edited this so many times, videos are hard lol
For me, Sia is the queen of uplifting and motivational songs
A few of my favourites:
- Bird Set Free
- Unstoppable
- Titanium
- Elastic Heart
- Alive
There are a few more, but I'll end up listing the majority of her albums
(Sia is highkey my go-to for my one-man dance parties -- she's got plenty of bops if you just need a mood boost)
Allow me to share with you my true loves (from Ninjago of course, because where else? :P) They all have lyrics, and those lyrics are just so... ahhh inspirational and I love them!! The first three are from the movie and the last one is the TV show. 🙂
The first one is called I Found My Place by Oh! Hush feat Jeff Lewis and I love it literally so much. Please listen to it, it's amazing and upbeat and it's so much fun. I'll find my place too and this song will be there every step of the way 🙂
Next up is Operation New Me by Jingle Punks. It's probably my third favourite among all three from the LEGO Ninjago Movie BUT It's still pretty cool and I like the lyrics 🙂
Lastly (from the movie) is Heroes by Blaze N Vill and it's so good! (This one and I Found My Place are tied for the number 1 and 2 spot, I can't decide between them :P) It's just... ahhhh! They've got their powers and they're doing their heroing and I love my tiny yellow ninja okay? They're amazing and so is this song.
And now actually lastly and definitely up the top of all time favourites is The Weekend Whip by The Fold! It's the theme song for the TV show and OH MAN it is one of the best songs ever. The Fold also have some other amazing songs, but I'm not as familiar with them yet, but maybe after I pick out some of my favourites, I'll add them 😄
And that's it for now! There are of course plenty of other songs that I love but at the moment they are right there at the top. They're always the ones I repeat a couple of times when they show up on shuffle 😛
@N1ghtW1ng i listened to 'I Found My Place' - it's so upbeat and i couldn't help but smile 🙂
(the lego people are so cute!)
One of my absolute favourite songs is World Away by Tonight Alive. The lyrics are so incredibly powerful and uplifting. My life is what I make it. I choose to rise and take it
The full song:
A part of me always believed
I must have brought this on myself
'Cause I'm not where I want to be
And every time I want to change my life
It just feels like trying to turn water into wine
It doesn't have to be a world away
I can hear the song like it's inside of me
I know that if I get to know my pain
I unlock a hundred different doors to better days
Though I take hit after hit
I realise the higher reason is accepting challenges as gifts
And through the fight
I never really knew that I would find myself
That's why I give my thanks to you
It doesn't have to be a world away
I can feel the sun like it's inside of me
I know that if I get to know my pain
I unlock a hundred different doors to better days
My life is what I make it
I choose to rise and take it
From your hands
My life is what I make it
I choose to rise and take it
From your hands
This is not my punishment
This is my catalyst for growth
I know I will survive this
I'll be the strongest person I know
It doesn't have to be a world away
I can see the light like it's inside of me
I know that if I get to know my pain
I unlock a hundred different doors to better days
My life is what I make it
I choose to rise and take it
From your hands
My life is what I make it
I choose to rise and take it
From your hands
This is not my punishment
This is my catalyst for growth
I know I will survive this
I'll be the strongest person I know
I love all of the songs you guys have mentioned!
I also adore Love Myself by Hailee Steinfeld 🙂
But there's a hope that's waiting for you in the dark
You should know you're beautiful just the way you are
And you don't have to change a thing, the world could change its heart
No scars to your beautiful, we're stars and we're beautiful
Alessia Cara - Wild Things
So hey, we brought our drum and this is how we dance
No mistakin', we make our breaks, if you don't like our 808s
Then leave us alone, 'cause we don't need your policies
We have no apologies for being
@lokifishI really like that song! 🙂
@FootyFan26 I love Alessia Cara! Such an amazing voice! 🙂
@letitgo@cupcakes_032I hadn't heard those songs before but amazing! I like them!
(I'm adding those to my playlist, Lokifish, letitgo & cupcakes)
Some more songs (And apologies I can't be bothered to do the whole analyse bit tonight 😛 )
"Born This Way" - Lady Gaga
Kesha's Hymn, Praying, Learn to Let go, Rainbow
The album Rainbow "is about looking forward and letting go of the past, reflecting without dwelling and ultimately changing for the better." And I think that sums it up beautifully. I love these 4 songs!
And a random one from my self-love playlist Only Human - Delta Goodrem
i love kesha and her songs are so inspiring !! @Bee im actually seeing her in concert this year 🙂
i just made a spotify playlist including all the songs you guys suggested.
