Three positives of today

Another frequented thread on the old forums. 🙂
The idea is to look for three positive things about your day whether it's been good or bad.

I'll start it off.

1. I ate some Maltesers and they were very yummy!
2. I got some of my French assignment done. 😄
3. The new ReachOut forums. Am I the only one who was buzzing with excitement when they came on here? 😄

1. Today is the first day of my (very short) uni holiday!

2. It's very cold outside but it's a beautiful sunny day

3. I got to spend the morning with my partner because her work has been closed due to lockdown (it's a lovely silver lining)

1. Today I’m struggling with not being able to do what I want to do, it’s a slow process until I am feeling better and a lot slower than I want it to be, so I have been feeling really flat and a bit miserable. But the positive here is that I am safe at home with my family and they make me so happy. Being around them makes everything feel a bit better.

2. Had an amazing breakfast this morning, I’m feeling grateful for bacon, and also hash browns.

3. I have a really old analog film camera which I don’t use often but I like to play around with it, and I was able to get my hands on some film over the weekend so I’m looking forward to taking some photos around the house and seeing how they turn out. I can’t remember much about how to use it but just press the button and hope for the best lol

I'm so sorry to hear you've been feeling a bit flat @Saltwaterdreamtime but I'm so glad you have your family around and that there've been some positives in your day today. 💛

I have bacon envy - yum!! 🤤

How did you get on with the analog film camera? That sounds like fun! 😀
Do you do much photography?

My three positives for today are:
1. A cute mug covered in cats filled with hot tea 🐈
2. The beautiful sunshine coming in the window
3. The new/old wardrobe I just got that's very cute, quirky and rickety

@Philippa-RO I’m a bit sick of being sore and tired, the pain stuff that they have given me is only really touching the surface. I want to go back to doing things I like to do again. I’m definitely grateful for my family at the moment. I get really stressed and feel flat but then I spend time with my family and realise I have everything I could ever need or what.  Our 3 y/o is all starry eyed and thinks I’m the best in the world I got gifted with a performance this morning which was a mix between break dancing (I think), and a dinosaur exhibit, I think. I’m not sure what was going on but it went on for a really long time....

And our baby looks just like me and it’s so surreal.

Whenever I feel crap I just realise I have a really nice family who love me and care about me, and it’s taken me a really really long time and a f tonne hard work to get that. I have never felt like this before, it’s like my heart is bursting at the seems. I’m very lucky in so many ways.

I also love bacon.

Is has to be crispy though.

I don’t do much photography at all, I’m more into sport and actually doing the things that people take photos of, like surfing ect but I like picking up the camera and having a go.

I was just testing it around the house, I got a few snaps of the kids outside but I need to get 36 before I can get it developed so we won’t know how they look for a couple of weeks at least.

Sorry to hear that you're still experiencing some pain @Saltwaterdreamtime, it sounds a bit frustrating not being able to do what you want to do.

Hearing you talk about your family and the kids is so heartwarming, I'm so glad they're bringing you so much joy. Your 3 year old sounds like a character!

How many photos have you taken so far? Are you close to 36, or not yet?

my three pos

1. Yesterday we did all of the jobs and all of the organising in our house and I CANNOT tell you how amazing it feels knowing you have no jobs to do on Sunday before the week starts, except that’s definitely a trap, I give it to midday before there’s more to do lol

2. Bought a coffee machine so we don’t have to keep buying them which has come with an element of sadness as we slowly break up with our local cafe beceuse we are spending too much money, we will still visit at least weekly so our 3 y/o can get that dopamine hit he gets from visiting “the local” and seeing his “friends”. oh dear.

Coffee machine made me a good coffee though.
had to mention you @Maddy-RO as we spoke about the local the other day.

3. I’m slowly starting to feel less pain, and I have found a safe hiding spot for my bike so I don’t have to look at it. Out of sight out of mind. Should probably do the same for all of my sporting items for the next few weeks.

Maddy-RO
Maddy-ROPosted 02-07-2021 02:49 PM

1. I have a reformer pilates class after work

2. It's my last week of my first placement

3. I've eaten yummy food today - oats and eggs on toast 🙂 (oats for brekkie and then eggs on toast for lunch, NOT oats AND egg on toast lol yuck!)

Taylor-RO
Taylor-ROPosted 03-07-2021 08:07 PM

1. I got to see my extended my family today which was nice

2. I found a lolly shop with American lollies which was cool (and tasty!)

3. I had some yummy food today 😊

Janine-RO
Janine-ROPosted 05-07-2021 11:33 AM

Yesss I love American lollies/candy @Taylor-RO - my partner is American, so Whole Foods candy is my favourite thing ever. What lollies did you get?

So good you could see your fam, we are back to Zoom with all of my extended family now as we are scattered across the USA, Hong Kong, Melbourne and regional Victoria/NSW. I am really looking forward to when we can travel again to see our Aussie family- we've been planning out road trips in our head as a fun little lockdown pastime 🙂

1. I am the only one home today so my house is nice and quiet

2. I bought myself some new hoodies to make lockdown a little more colourful

3. I am planning on going for a socially-distanced waddle in the park this afternoon with a friend who lives nearby

I'm so sorry I keep saying I'm going to leave but I need to do three positives to keep my head right this week

1. remembered I had leftover Caramilk so melted it into a hot choc 😈

2. Vibing to Baker Boy

3. I got new trackies the other day and they are like wearing a doona on my legs at all times and then you tuck your socks into the bottoms to trap the heat in and 🤤🤤🤤

Saltwaterdreamtime
SaltwaterdreamtimePosted 01-07-2021 12:45 PM

1. Booked in to chat to my mental health professional about how I am feeling after the weekend, I think this was a big step for me because apart from my covid lockdown phone check in I haven’t felt the need to contact them for a long while. I’m really trying to tell myself this isn’t a step backwards, it’s normal a response to an accident and I need someone to talk it through with and if it wasn’t for that I would be fine. Not that I need to justify it. Oh, but I do (but not for anyone else just me). I’m just really tired and I can’t stop thinking about it and I can’t sleep and I know that if I don’t deal with it now I really will take a step back with my health and I don’t want to go back there again

2. It is such a nice day today I have been sitting outside with our oldest small human and watching him riding his scooter

3. We had a family member quickly visit this morning which was really nice they bought chocolate biscuits with them which is the best part about visitors (definitely not their company..jk 🤪)

Portia_ROPosted 01-07-2021 02:12 PM

Hey @Saltwaterdreamtime, good on you for booking an appointment to talk to someone. You're absolutely right, this doesn't have to be a step backwards and might just be a one-off response to your accident. If anything, getting on top of things before they get on top of you sounds like a big step forward.

Sorry to hear you aren't sleeping too well, there's nothing worse than feeling overtired. What do you normally do when you can't sleep?

Saltwaterdreamtime
SaltwaterdreamtimePosted 01-07-2021 02:25 PM

@Portia_RO Yeah, just have to do like I said I don’t want to feel any worse or longer term things get bad because apart from the obvious things are actually really good for me in my life right now

I just can’t sleep mainly because it hurts to lay down but also just thinking about stuff all night. When I can’t sleep I try to put headphones in and play white noise or a podcast but that hasn’t been helping this week

Taylor-ROPosted 01-07-2021 10:50 PM

Omg @Saltwaterdreamtime.. I hope you don't think it is cheesy but I am so proud of you! I know it was really hard to book an appointment, so good on you for doing so. There is something to be said about taking action before things get worse. I know it is hard but your future self will thank you I am sure.

I also know that sleeping can be difficult for you at times.. so I can't imagine what it is like with the added nuisance of pain! I hope you feel better soon.

P.S. Love some good fluffy socks. My friend laughed at me cause they are like fluffy hoodies for your feet but I will be the one laughing when I am super toasty.

And melting chocolate into a hot drink!! Why have I never thought of that. Genius!

SaltwaterdreamtimePosted 02-07-2021 10:05 AM

I get laughed with  at on a daily basis about me tucking the socks into the bottom of the trackies and I don’t even care, if it’s 8pm and have to rush to the shops, guess who’s rocking up in trackies, with socks tucked in, and a pair of random shoes that were at the front door.... me, who’s the warm one... also me @Taylor-RO Add in the 3/4 zip dad jumper and I am PEAK comfort.
Yes melt the choc, especially caramilk ahhh it just melts when you put the hot water in so super easy.

my three positives and boy are these are good considering it’s only 9:53 am hahaha

this morning I had to go to the shops and on my return home my partner was taking our children out for a walk, I can’t stop thinking about It and laughing about how I literally saw our oldest child living his peak best life heading down the street, I can’t even pinpoint what was so funny, I think the sunglasses, paired with clothes he picked himself, and the fact that he was Being pushed around like a baby, even though he is very capable of walking, and also that they were on the way to get his hot chocolate, was probably what made it hilarious to me, I can’t stop thinking about it

The dog GIF sums it up better than I can 😂 I can’t stop laughing in my head over it I don’t know why it’s sooo funny

2. THAT ^

3. See positive number 1

🤣🤣🤣

I looooove being comfortable as well. I've been told that I either look homeless or like a fashionista (when I go out) and that there is no in-between. My boyfriend also bought me an oodie for maximum comfort and warmth. Best thing ever! Don't even need the heater on when I'm wearing one.

Hahaha I love that. It sounds like your son was looking incredibly hip this morning. What a sweetheart. Kids are so unintentionally funny. It's the best.

Glad to hear you've had a good morning.

SaltwaterdreamtimePosted 02-07-2021 12:35 PM

@Maddy-RO I can do comfort but I can’t do an oodie, I just, I don’t know, feels like I’m wearing a dress.... I wear one of those hoodie towels after surfing and even that, feels like some sort of hospital gown, it’s a huge no from me I wish I could stand them because they look warm

Yea! The coolest of cool kids. I wish I was there for when they got the coffee order, I’m sure he went in like he owned the place, “our local” he calls it, all of the staff know him on a first name basis 🤣🤣🤣

Maddy-RO
Maddy-ROPosted 02-07-2021 12:57 PM

Bahaha. You need to try and imagine it as a blanket, not as a dress, or try wearing it with pants so that it feels more like a hoodie. My one is literally huge on me. My boyfriend probably should have got me the child-sized version lol 🤣

Awwwww hahaha..."our local"...I fricken love that. Aww they know him on a first name basis too hahaha. I hope they remember his order off by heart because he is clearly the coolest kid in town and they should feel privledged to have him in store, and if they're not careful he will go somewhere else 😂🤣😂

@I just can’t get my head around an oodie @Maddy-RO you know those things where you’re just like nope, that’s oodies for me 😖

Yeah, they always say hello! He never wants his hair up but when we say the man at the local has the same hair (a top knot) he goes oh fine 😆

Oh hey it’s me I’m back... after quite an interesting weekend where I actually thought I was going to die I wanted to write a few positives just cos well im not dead, or severely injured, don’t do sport people, just don’t.

1. Well I’m feeling a bit better so that’s a good thing

2. Hanging at home today and it’s super sunny (but cold) so we’ve been chilling outside

3. A heap of new music from some of my favourite artists has just come out, can’t wait to have our bonfire night tonight with some tunes and takeaway

Heya @Saltwaterdreamtime ! Nice to see your name pop up , but sorry to hear you had an interesting weekend... was it a sports injury?? Are you alright now?

I am still loving this thread, especially now it's our turn to be in lockdown, so here's mine:

1. I've been appreciating the little things so much - having a garden to potter in (even though it's a HEAP of work and endless weeding!) brings me so much joy at all times, but especially in lockdown. I've been slowly planting natives at our place, and I'm so stoked that they're now flowering

2. Having a giggle with my big kid about Animal Crossing - which she's rediscovered (thanks, Lockdown 2.0!)

3. Having hot tea on a cold day

And a bonus- like every single parent in lockdown with kids under 6- I am SO bloody grateful for bluey!!!!

Fell off my mountain bike at the bike park @Janine-RO They thought I had broken my neck or had a spinal cord injury was laying face down on the ground one of the scariest moments of my adult life

I am ok but a bit sore now, but I am at home and scans clear.
I can t even tell you All of the things That was going through my head while I was laying on the ground there was heaps of people around who helped and called the ambulance,. That was my story for the weekend. I feel sick thinking about it
I’m just so  glad I’m ok fair to say I gave my family a really big hug and a sorry for scaring my partner

How good is Bluey? @Janine-RO
