Weekly Wellbeing: Spicing Up The Mundane (Making lockdown lifestyle a little more fun)

Being at home all day because of lockdown can be very boring. It's easy to get into a cycle or routine that makes the hours go by yet it feels empty or time wasted especially with chores and housework.

 

This week's wellbeing activity will be to find an activity (one to three) that you find mundane and boring 😴. It's this week's task to then spice things up and find a creative way to make it fresh, fun, enjoyable, or even a healthier activity 😁 , and then share it below to help out the rest of the community to have a better time at home.

 

For example:

1. When doing dishes - get your phone and play some music and have a dance party doing dishes! 💃🕺

2. When hanging laundry - do some squats for every piece of clothing 💪

3. When making your bed - set a timer and see how fast you can do it (still neatly), and try to beat your previous record

I love this thread! 💙 Something I might do is play some happy music while I'm making breakfast! I think some dancing in the kitchen would definitely be a good start to the day!

Bit late to this but I love this so much!! I think that making something small and mundane interesting again is a fantastic way to feel not so bored during covid- it's the little things! Maybe every time I get up from studying at my desk and come back to it I do push ups against my desk and stretch haha

That's such a great idea @ayrc_1904 ! I think I might try that too 😊 I feel so unfit after lockdown haha, but doing some push ups and stretches every time I get up should definitely help!

These activities sounds awesome! I've never thought of doing squats while doing laundry. But I'll give it a try!!! 😁

 

One mundane thing I have right now are zoom meetings for uni. Since my video and mic are off most of the time, sometimes I do some "dances" while others are speaking (I have a standing desk). In a weird way I find that this actually helped me focus on what the others are saying 🤣

Lol @Onion that's hilarious with the dancing 😄 I've definitely danced while watching lectures at my standing desk. Except then towards the end of last semester I ended up just watching stuff in bed lol 😅

I love this idea @Anzelmo! I almost always listen to music when cleaning like the other week I was cleaning my room (it probably needs cleaning again) and kept listening to this song that was in deadpool hm what was it called it's by ACDC. Oh, thunderstruck! Yes and that got me so motivated I also cleaned the bathroom lol. I like the idea of incorporating exercises into chores as well. On another note.. people actually make their beds? 😬
