[CHAT] We are family
They say blood is thicker than water, and that you cant choose your family. This week we’re getting together to talk about the uniqueness of families in this day and age and to share your stories good, bad or embarrassing about your family. With school and uni holidays just beginning, perhaps you’re already a little overwhelmed by the family..
Love them or hate them, we all have family. They can drive us crazy on those days when we want to sleep in, but dad wants to mow the lawn. But they can also be the ones that are around every single day no matter what, to help you and support you. The age old idea of a nuclear family with a mum, dad and two kids is out the door. These days we have foster children, adopted children; we have family friends that live with us and friends who have turned into family. So what we want to talk about on Monday is how unique and different your family is and why it’s so important to value them- no matter how much they drive you crazy.
This Monday come join myself and @SJG to talk about your family and what makes them unique. Learn tips on how to deal with tricky situations or ways to re-spark that lost family spirit.
They will grow up loving Harry Potter because I will read it to the from the moment I find out that I am pregnant.
Okay, it won't be too bad if they hate it. They just won't understand why I will cry when some person known as J.K. Rowling passes away.
By the way everyone, ive totally had that song "WE ARE FAMILY!!! IVE GOT ALL MY SISTERS WITH ME" stuck in my head this whole time hahahha

IF you dont want a family of PEOPLE what would you have? (dogs, cats, monkeys???)
@stonepixie I would definitely adopt any dogs that I have, and the reptiles if I end up having any if I can. And maybe from pet shops to, because I feel like they really want a home too. I dunno, pet shops always seem kind of shady to me. Those puppies always look so sad, all these people walking past and none of them giving them a scratch on their bellies they so desperately want... anyways.. 🙂

Monkeys would be such an awesome family 😛 Line them up where your least favourite people congregate and ONE, TWO, THREE, FLING! I have a fascination with reptiles so I'd probably try and get snakes and lizards and turtles and a whole bunch of fish too. And perhaps some dogs that I let sleep in the garage during winter because it's freezing outside.
One of my fondest memories of my brother was this.

I will hold him to that promise, even if he doesn't remember it.
I don't really want a family. I don't want to pass my illness on to my kids, and I don't think I'd cope anyway tbh, even if I was well.
I would love to adopt kids one day, and create a really close group of friends around me like a family.. i want my kids to be nerds and love reading and everything fantasy haha, also i want my boy to play soccer and my girl to do ballet...i hope i dont become a control freak mother. Plus i also want to travel HEAPS as a family

I think I would like a family, one day. Right now, even though I'm 21, the thought of having kids scares the hell out of me, don't get me wrong, I love kids, but maybe it's because I have so much I want to do before I settle down and have a family, idk. ONE DAY I WILL OK. AHHHH!!!!

I love toddlers its weird no one really does but they are amazing... the weird things they say.

I most definitely want a family! I want them to be loud, dysfunctional, but loving and I've always said that I want at last 2 but for some reason 4 kids has always struck a chord with me. Although I haven't told anyone about that. So shh! Don't tell anyone. Hahahaha.
I just want the kids to be themselves.
How do you 'get along' with siblings in law/ partners/boyfriends/ girlfriends/ friends of your family when you don't really get along with them?
I've been pretty lucky that I get along with majority of people, and even if I don't particually like them, I still deal with it pretty well. But I imagine if I reeeaaaally hated someone, I'd just avoid them 😛
I'm lucky that most of family is overseas or inter state so I dont have to be forced to get along with them. It's only me dad and my brother here. I avoid my brother at all costs and don't even try with him anymore (personal reasons)
