[CHAT] We like to party
Moderator @FItzChivalry writes:
Partying is a word that gets most people excited at the first thought of it. The idea of partying is pretty awesome. Get a bunch of mates, music, a few drinks and dance the night away. I’ve spent many years doing just that, and I’ve had some awesome nights because of it, made a lot of friends and a lot of memories. But partying does have its dark side.
I remember my first real house party, when we were all about 16 years old. I was the only one who really had an older brother, and he was “cool” enough to buy alcohol for the night. My best friend’s mum had even gone away for the weekend so we had a free house. The invites went out, and the party was gonna be awesome. It was like a scene out of one of those American college movies where they are running around the school throwing flyers at people. A few hours into the party it was clear that this definitely was going to be the best party ever. However things very quickly soured.
Unbeknownst to the organizers, one girl had brought herself a bottle of pretty hard liquor and decided it would be a great idea to polish it off herself. Next thing you know she’s in hospital, mums were called, tears were shed and it was definitely not the party to end all parties. That was our first taste of how quickly things could head south (the girl was fine in the end, but it was still a bit shock for us all).
So - partying can be awesome, and the majority of the time it is, but young people, alcohol and maybe even drugs is the perfect combination for problems. It happens from time to time. So how do we still have a good time without being too irresponsible about it?

Chips and Mcflurrys at 3am after drinking is the only time I ever consume maccas @j95!
Haha @EloiseRose
I'm technically lactose intolerant, but I'm also technically very in denial about it! No wonder I feel sick the next morning..
That sounds like fun @KitKat! 🙂
I wish I was good at dress ups. I'm really not creative when it comes to them!
@florenceforever They're so much fuuuuun! Although, clubs / pubs / party venues are always the best for crazy costumes. I once made a horned sort of helment out of papermache to be a female-Loki and I ended up knocking people in the face with my horns / getting stuck in the doorways all night, haha. Not to mention it left me with two old bruises on my forehead, haha.
Hey @j95
Oh man I forgot about dancing! Usually the reason why my feet hurt so much the next morning!
Thanks @EloiseRose 🙂
Yeah I think so. I think my friendship circle at uni has also moved me from the heavy party scene to the more laid back, social scene 🙂 I definitely prefer it!
@jvkn Totally agree with regards to the music, that's a huge factor for me now about where I go out on the weekend. Much prefer a chilled out vibe than the monotonous repetative stuff they pump out at clubs!
They rescue you... or they help you get back into the club by providing you with different clothes.
@j95 I have had to do the old switcharoo a few times, there's always someone who thinks wearing shorts is a good idea when going out!
oh no no @FItzChivalry that too but I also mean getting kicked out and then having your friends giving you there jackets and hats - hey look tottally different person.
Hahaha @KitKat
Themed things don't happen often in ye old Hobart town!
@stonepixie - love a good cider or two!
Loving the conversation guys this is some interesting stuff!
So what are the best parts of partying or going out for you guys?
So what are the best parts of partying or going out for you guys?
The only thing that cures a hang over - sleep and orange juice is pretty good.
But the best parts would be those nights at home with friends telling old stories, you learn alot about each other on a night like that, regardless of whether we're drunk or not.
so true regardless of level of drunkness you always learn something new about your friends
What do you guys consider ‘’partying’? What does your typical night out look like?
I havent been partying in ages... dam uni!!
However usually for me a night out includes a few wines delicious food and some dancing!!

To me, partying is when people come together to celebrate something or they gather for a meal or to share drinks and conversations. I hardly go out anymore, but a typical night starts off with dinner, followed by a few ciders and lots and lots of chatting.
Welcome !
lots of chatting seems to what eventuates after having a few years of partying hard hah
