it is really hard and it really does feel like im failing at everything.
besides everything else thats happening its really hard financially. im selling everything to rely on getting through the weeks i dont know how im going to get my car registered and save for my surgury etc its really hard and stressful and i dont know what else to do. im already working as much as i can.
I am so sorry to hear how hard things have been- I am just catching up on posts from the weekend I can imagine the financial stress on top of worrying about your physical health would be really overwhelming. Saving up for surgery can be challenging- have you spoken to a doctor about accessing public health care if the cost privately is expensive? Are there are financial support options you can access to get the healthcare you may need?
What have you got planned this week to keep you busy?

my surgury is through the public system so the operation itself isnt an expense however to get what i need done i have to be spent to another major hospital where they specialise in what i need doing the down side is its over 2hrs away so my big expense is things like hotels, and transport costs and those sorts of things. if it was close to home it wouldnt be so bad because i wouldnt need to book hotels and things. i could just come home when i was discharged.
i have lots of phone calls, appointments, horsing around and cleaning up to do so thatll keep me busy but it doesnt help keep me mentally stable. just gives me something to do i suppose
@scared01 That sounds like such a hassle and inconvenience. Is there anyone who can stay with you when you have your surgery?
I have also heard of some hospitals having patient accommodation, which could end up being cheaper than booking a hotel room. Since you're travelling two hours to get there, would you be a candidate for this? Sometimes, these options are listed on the hospital's website.
It sounds like there's been a lot going on for you. It's never easy having health challenges on top of financial strain. Thank you for reaching out and @WheresMySquishy your suggestion around patient accommodation is really helpful.
I'm just wondering if you receive NDIS at all? If so this could be an avenue to explore for some financial assistance. There are some other options I've also thought of that may help to alleviate the stress you're going through.
1. Apply for a centrelink loan. This can be done on the mygov website and there's a step by step guide here on how to get an advance payment.
2. In regards to transport costs I would encourage you give The Salvation Army a call - they provide financial assistance and the number for the emergency relief can be found here
Speak to your local doctor and they also might be able to suggest some options for you.
Please continue to lean on the community while you're going through this difficult time.
it is pretty inconvenient but they are well equipped and trained for what i need done which helps me feel better. my major surgury is basically a minor one for them cause they are use to it.
i did speak with the nursing unit manager of that hospital and they said they had a hostel thingy however all the amenitites were shared and they could only offer one for me and one other person in the same room but im not comfortable sharing amenities (in a hotel setting not so much a hospital one).
im not on NDIS but it was a good suggestion. I have already done my centrelink loan and i dont qualify till later in the year now i think after the operation unless i can pay it off earlier.
thank you though ill take at the salvation army and see what they have avaliable. they may have other options besides transport too.
I'm so sorry to read how difficult things are. It sounds like there are so many stressors right now. I just want to check in to see if you are safe?
Is there anything going on today especially that is difficult for you? If so, do you need to speak to someone about this? If so, places such as Headspace have phone and webchat counsellors to help you. Here is a link. Even though you are going through so much, just opening up to a counsellor is often helpful. Of course, we are here for you as well . So please continue to reach out .
