Three positives of today

Another frequented thread on the old forums. 🙂
The idea is to look for three positive things about your day whether it's been good or bad.

I'll start it off.

1. I ate some Maltesers and they were very yummy!
2. I got some of my French assignment done. 😄
3. The new ReachOut forums. Am I the only one who was buzzing with excitement when they came on here? 😄

1. With daylight savings no longer and the sun now up earlier I was able to get an early run in this morning. Got 5kms done.

2. Lots of wildlife around at the moment, the local creek had heaps of ducks this morning

3. Our local cafe is doing takeaway everything on the menu including eggs benny

Those are some great positives @Saltwaterdreamtime  🙂  A 5km run is a great way to start the day, I find the autumn mornings perfect for running/ walking.

You've inspired me to do some too:

1. I have been missing my morning commute to work, so this morning I had a bit of time to spare and put my coffee in a keep cup instead, put my headphones in and walked for 20 minutes listening to a great podcast and drinking my coffee. The commute you do when you're working from home! I realised how much the ritual of having some exercise and time out to myself in the mornings before work had helped me to kickstart my day and have a boundary between work and home life, so I decided to re-create it. It helped a lot!

2. I went for a walk at lunchtime to our local bakery and got an amazing sausage roll.

3. My veggie garden has started sprouting! We planted out two raised garden beds 8 days ago, and we now have shoots coming up- beetroot, carrot and cauliflower.

Three positives of today for me would have to be:

1. Snuggles with my new puppy, even though he has been chewing everything and weeing everywhere, it is all so worth it when he falls asleep on me.

2. Having a really yum and healthy lunch made for me.

3. This is a future positive - but I'm going to re-watch Mulan this evening. My fave disney movie 🙂

Puppies, yummy food and Mulan @Bre-RO- sounds like an amazing day!

My three positives are:
1. My partner sending me funny videos he films each morning to start my day with a smile. It helps so much!
2. Feeling so much pride for my mum, more than ever right now! My mum is a nurse and her compassion just blows me away!
3. Going for a bushwalk this afternoon 🙂 One of the benefits of living next to a national park

My 3 positives for the past few days

1. I am getting back into skateboarding and have managed to do an ollie (inside lol) @Saltwaterdreamtime may need some tips from you 🙂

2. I have been going on walks and picking native flowers so now have a good collection going

3. I am hoping to foster a dog and I have an online induction session tonight

These have been so great to read all of you on here are legends!!! I know things are tough right now but you all blow me away each and every day with how brave and kind you all are. The community is helping me get through the days Heart

1. My mate who lives around the corner just called me and asked if I wanted to pop over to see something in his garage, so I stood in his driveway and had a chat with him which thankfully is totally legal and allowed. Nice to see another human.
2. Spent the day cleaning up our garage, it was a bloody mess and I want to make the little terror some indoor play stuff so there’s something to do from home, inside, while the weather is a bit hairy, we don’t have a lot of indoor space to play so the garage might become an indoor skate park or something.
3. Listened to some new music

That sounds like a good bunch of positives for the day @Saltwaterdreamtime - it's amazing how much of a difference it can make seeing another human, isn't it. My neighbour and I were both outside on the street with our kids yesterday afternoon, supervising them while they tore around on their bikes and scooters. We only spoke briefly (and from a safe distance!) but it really lifted my spirits.

An indoor skate park sounds amazing- keep us posted with how you go! I am thinking that at least the current circumstances are going to force us all to get more creative with how we entertain ourselves at home. A relative of mine has built a bouldering wall in their garage which is getting a LOT of use at the moment!

@Janine-ROI agree, it was really nice. Ooh a bouldering wall, what a great idea! Could potentially try that just not sure the landlord would approve. I attempted skate ramps years ago but got busy, and the plus is they can be moved when built. The bouldering wall is a great idea, but I’m also aware of the fact that at this stage bouldering wall that readily available, hmmm that’s a worry, at least I can put the skateboards away and the ramps become nothing more than a slide...

The kid tries to ride two skateboards at once or a scooter and a skateboard at once! inside the house! This is why we need more space.

Thanks @Taylor-RO she will be working from home, but the office space is still available to go in and work from with a choice, so I might be home with our 2 year old a day or so a week while she works from the office in the beginning, and then see how it all goes from there.  By next year he will be at 3 year old kinder and hopefully I’m back working full time and with her 4 days a week, we will all be busy, we actually received information about local kinder enrolment this week ready for next year which is exciting.

I don’t have three positives yet but even though life is pretty shit right now I wanted to share this little Wednesday funny... I think it counts as all three positives...

I was making a coffee this morning and I thought where is the child and why is it so quiet... and because he often sits with my partner in the mornings while she works I didn’t worry too much, and then I thought nah I better go investigate, and he has gone into the garage, put on both MY helmet and shoes, starts walking through the house, can’t really walk in them nor can he see properly past the helmet so it’s just like clomp clomp clomp, I said where are you going

“To work”

“what do you do at work?”
“play tennis!”
*falls over*

gets up

*falls over*

*gets up, cycle repeats itself about 4 times*

“I’m ok!”

And I’m thinking, are you though? really?

I wish life was as easy as putting a grown ups shoes and helmet on to play imaginary lounge room tennis

1. It’s silly sock Saturday I’ve got cockatoos on mine.
2. Walked further than usually this morning
3. I have to get some work done on my car and I’m glad I could take it in this morning because some places are shut on Saturdays.
4. Saw a cute sausage dog, toddler exclaimed look Snitzel Von Crum, dog owner had no idea what he was talking about. They looked confused.

I also just want to add this pos. Today I got given a date for my second eye surgery. It’s been a few years since the first one and due to money and Covid it’s taken a lot longer than it should of.
yay to eye surgery.

I’m really having a tough time today so I’m doing my best to find some positives.

1. My partner recently made a homemade advent calendar so lots of little envelopes and little treats hear and there. The envelopes have little messages in them which is super cute and it’s our bribery to get the 3 year old dressed and organised for the day so seeing him doing that the last couple of days and get excited for it has been super fun
2. Our Christmas tree is up! Woo
3. I’m not sure about this one yet, I’m thinking maybe I will treat myself to a bit of slice or cake from the cafe nearby, I do love a baked good

1. Refreshed our household playlist and now there’s a heap of new music to listen to.

2. One of my younger brothers was supposed to visit on the weekend and then cancelled so we had a really decent chat over the weekend on the phone.

3. Catching up/interviewing (although, informally) with a potential 2021 new staff member this evening. This is me.... 2340DC12-448A-4950-8740-27EDAEA587D0.gif

Hi @Saltwaterdreamtime , I'm sorry to hear that you're having a tough time today, but it is so nice to see you soaking up the positives and having a little gratitude in your day!

OMG Awesome!!! The advent calendar is super creative! What are some kinds of daily messages has your partner has thrown in? Haha I love that, need to trick the little one somehow hey, it's an awesome idea for kids! Don't get me wrong though, I can't pass up a chocolate advent calendar, but yours sounds like a really good idea to beat the chocolate coma and instill some happiness in the morning Smiley Very Happy

WOO it is definitely that time of the year now isn't it! I popped mine up last night too actually, when did you put your one up?

A trip up to the cafe sounds like a perfect self-care treat, even a walk in the local park and sitting down to eat your lunch or afternoon snack is a great idea! I might do that for myself after a long day of work Smiley Tongue

@Kaylee-ROYeah it’s pretty awesome! Little poems and small stories with a little affirmation. It’s so cute. We avoid chocolate because our 3 year old is whirlwind at the best of times. I think we put ours up on the weekend.
I took the little guy for a drive and had a drive and a car picnic at one of the lookouts (too windy to sit outside)

@Saltwaterdreamtime That does sound extremely lovely! I am going to have to invest in one for myself and my partner! I love little DIY projects so that's a great idea!

Aw lovely! Do you have any Christmas traditions that you guys like to do? Personally mine isn't much but when we put the tree up, we always have Christmas music on! Boosts the hype of it all! Smiley Tongue

Sounds nice, I hope you both enjoyed it!

@Kaylee-RO Yeah my partner is DIY/craft nerd and doesn’t a bloody good job at it!!
Not at the moment. We are still working on our “traditions” hahaha. This will be our second Christmas as the three of us.

I didn’t get to celebrate Christmas as a kid so it’s really fun now getting to have the joy of Christmas with my own family instead of alone.

Welcome back!
