ABC Kids!
So a conversation with @N1ghtW1ng and @stonepixie earlier today prompted an idea to start a thread where we can reminisce about our favourite old kids shows (and how their new versions suck - *cough* animated Bananas in Pyjamas *cough* :P)
What were/are some of your favourite kids cartoons? 🙂
@stonepixie that picture is honestly terrifying, I did not imagine them to be that big!
I was a huge fan of Madeline (because she was short, like me) and of Arthur growing up! I used to hate Angela Anaconda though, because my name is really close to Angela and I'd get that all as a nickname all the time. At least, until Angelina Ballerina started and THEN I became Angelina Ballerina
@safari93 ah yeah, I've always been a tomboy so if someone tried to make me do ballet as a kid I would've screamed 😛 but I actually liked Angelina Ballerina which was weird.
If anyone's looking to procrastinate for 5 minutes here's an old Bananas in Pyjamas episode 😄 😄
BRINGING BACK THIS THREAD BECAUSE IT'S MY FAVE 😍
Here's another old-school Bananas in Pyjamas clip 😄
WOOOO @lokifish !
I watched a lot of the shows you have listed above 🙂
I LOVED The Busy World of Richard Scary it still ranks as my favourite all time kids show 🙂 I have actually got a few picture books which I am saving for when I have kids.
I also really liked The Mr Men Show.
My sister was obessed with Bambaloo, oh and Hi5 (the original five!) were awesome 🙂
As a tweenager I often watched Noah and Saskia and there was a show about two girls who switched lives I think one was a singer/actress and the other was a normal girl anyone remember the name? Lizzie McGuire is a given and I am so hoping Disney decides to do a reboot of it as Hilary Duff raising her own kids. Disney actually did a reboot of That's So Raven which is hilarious - Raven is now a divorced mum with boy girl twins living with Chelsea and her son.
I am still a huge fan of the show Blue Water High it was a fun Australian show
Other shows that stood out for me:
- The Sleepover Club
- Ship to Shore - it was actually filmed in my state so it's fun to look back on 🙂
- The Saddle Club - not the remake the original show!
- H2O Just Add Water - mermaids before they were popular.
- Silversun - the ending sucked though, it ended on a cliff hanger oh and there was a creepy storyline about an alien that took over the captains brain that was horrible.
- There was a show about kids who lived on a wildlife park, Anh Doh was in it.
Apologies for not putting in photos have no motivation to do it haha!
@ErinsAntics The original Hi 5 were the best!! I remember seeing them in concert when I was little 😛
I found the original Hi-5 were the best! The new people that progressively came in were never as good... One of my younger relatives was actually in the audience of one of their shows!
And...
😄
I found a bunch of old Wiggles gifs while I was making the July 2019 IYSH thread and couldn't use them all, so I just had to share the other ones here! 😄
I'm kind of late to the party but I used to love the Wiggles as a kid! I personally knew one of them and their family when I was younger. My name is in one of their songs. When I was little, I used to think that it was inspired by me, but it looks like it was just a coincidence because it was recorded before I was born.
For example, show of hands for who remembers Arthur! I always thought Muffy was so cool growing up 😛
Hey, HEY it's a wonderful kind of day DAY, we can learn to work and play PLAY and get along with each otheeeer!!!
Aww man, now I'm all nostalgic 😛
I loved watching Arthur when I was a kid. Nice short episodes where the characters learn to to do the 'right' thing.
The newer episodes of Arthur are not too bad. From the last time I watched it, I saw two new American characters: Ladonna and Bud.
@lokifish I LOVED Madeline!!!!!!!!! (mainly because she has red hear :P)
@loves netball Madeline was awesome! She went on so many adventures around Paris, I was always jealous 😛
... And from my recent spam you can deduce that I may be just a little obsessed with kids shows (as if you all didn't already know that :D)
@N1ghtW1ng The cat with one eye was called Old Tom 😄 and aww my sister was OBSESSED with Bear In The Big Blue House when we were little. I still have a soft toy of Treelo (the lemur, who was my favourite character)
