AMAA - Ngaio-RO
@Ngaio-RO has graciously agreed to do this week's AMAA! 😄
A quick reminder of the rules:
For the next week you can ask Ngaio-RO pretty much whatever you want and they'll have a crack at answering as many questions as they can! Remember, they can only give you answers within the guidelines though and don't have to answer right away (or at all)! Other than that though, go nuts!
Hey @letitgo
what's your favourite song? Such a tough one to answer because it always depends upon so much. And if you relate to that then this movie is for you. But because you've asked, I'm going to answer. Probably Swamp Song by Tool. Only because as much as there are many, many other songs I love dearly, at any time if this song is played I will always reach over and turn the volume up.
Hey @lokifish
Haha, together you and @loves netball woulkd make the greatest political interview team EVER! "Yes Prime Minister, your 5 year plan sounds great but let's get back to how many chick peas you can fit in your nose. And then my colleague will be timing your burpees." I love it.
Who drinks more coffee - you or @Ben-RO? Not sure. I'm a hectic coffee drinker but only in the morning. I'll keep an eye out and get back to you.
Which Sesame Street character is your favourite? Beaker. Hands down. Here's my gift to you.
Would you ever want to live on Mars? Why/why not? I would have said no after I read The Martian because it's just a vast, empty rock. But I've just binge watched The Expanse where Mars is colonised and has become a major military power intent on taking over everything. So, still No.
Hi @May_
Good questions!!
What is your favourite food? Anything Asian - Vietnamese / Japanese / Yum Cha / Chinese BBQ / Korean / Indian
What is your favourite movie? So hard to pick just one but as that's the question, I'm going with Momento - it's miond blowing.
If you could visit any country in the world right now where would you go? I have not travelled nearly as much as I would like so the list of countries is very long but according to Lonely Planet this is what Bermuda looks like right now, so yeah, I pick there.
Hey @j95
I'm so glad you asked this.
Why did you come back to RO after all this time? When I was here last time I was working for the company that helped RO support the community out of office hours. Which was why I was usually on in that evening period. Then I returned to full time youth work. I just started at RO as the community manager for ReachOut Parents. Which I am incredibly excited about. But because I'm in a team with Ben-RO, I cover him when he needs to be elsewhere, so I get to come hang with you guys. Which is a total perk of the job.
Do you like lasagne? Absolutely. It's my go to dish if I'm cooking and I want to make something I know everyone will like. What's not to love about lasagne? It's so versatile. Meat, vego and vegan versions are all awesome. What a dish!
Have you made gingerbread yet?
What's with all the robots?
Can you do a cartwheel?
How many chin ups and push ups can you do?
What's the furthest you can run?
Have you ever milked a cow?
Hey @loves netball
Haha, I get the impression you're very good at making people laugh. You're questions are awesome.
Have you made gingerbread yet? No, but if it counts, you totally motivated me to bake over the weekend and I made a flourless chocolate cake. And then I ate a flourless chocolate cake. Which is why I try not to bake too often.
What's with all the robots? The emoji offers at RO always made me laugh. They look like something out of the nineties. And for some reason it makes me laugh, everytime, when you use one and before you post it says what it is. So at the end of your message it says, very happy robot. It's super lame but it makes me laugh and laugh...
Can you do a cartwheel? I definitely could but I'm pretty sure anything I'd pull off now would be pretty sub par.
How many chin ups and push ups can you do? Ok, full disclosure? Push ups? like 3. Chin ups? none. Robot Embarassed
What's the furthest you can run? At a jog? I could maybe run for ten mins before I have to stop. And die.
Have you ever milked a cow? I have. As a kid and an adult. If I find myself staying on a farm I always volunteer to do stuff like that.
I am referring to how many push ups you can do on your TOES?
And I said run NOT jog. Jog is that shuffling thing people do when they're trying to be faster than a walk
Are you telling me to become a politician?
If it's push-ups on my toes @loves netball then I have no choice but to reduce that number to 2. Maybe 1.
And if it's proper running, not jogging, then I'm never going to make 10 mins. It's what I always think when I watch horror movies - So. Much. Running.
I thought you guys would make amazing political interviewers - but now I'm thinking I should recruit you as a personal trainer.
@Ngaio-RO well if I ever get made to do this then you might just find out my field hehehehe
Have you ever watched a Diamonds vs Silver ferns netball match?
No but I'm betting it's an incredible example of athleticism. Those players are amazing. Is that your passion?
@Ngaio-RO have you not read my user name?
Haven't you ever seen a game on TV? My favourite match to watch is the 2011 netball world cup final (the 2010 commonwealth games gold medal match was pretty good too, except the result 😞 )
Hehe, yep, @loves netball very good point. I should have realised how important it is for you.
There's a glitch thnat means you're not getting your mentions properly but @j95 has invited us to take our sports talk over to here As someone who knows nothing about netball except from playing for a while as a kid, I'm interested to hear about it.
Favourite colour?
Favourite animal?
Why do you drink coffee?
Why do you like working with young people?
Can you drive a tractor?
Hey @loves netball another set of great questions.
Favourite colour? Black. I know, it's not technically a colour but I can't help it. I legit love black.
Favourite animal? Dogs. Hands down. Then maybe seals, who are really just dogs of the sea.
Why do you drink coffee? Because I'm missing the muscle that makes other people want to get up and face the world. So I replace that muscle with caffeine.
Why do you like working with young people? I worked with adults for a fair while, in drug treatment centres, and it taught me that if real change is going to happen and people are going to get a chance at having the life they deserve, then support needs to be available early on. Mostly though, I just genuinely enjoy working with and being around young people.
Can you drive a tractor? I haven't but I like to think I could if needed. I love driving and am pretty decent at it so I think I could work it out. But that's pure fantasy. I have zero experience to back that up.
Would you be comfortable doing this?
@Ngaio-RO I want to see you try to drive a tractor, bet you'd have trouble hahaha
Why dogs?
Would I be comfortable doing what?
@loves netball I think you're right. Tractors are a far distance from cars aren't they.
Because dogs are so loving. The way they are always up for a pat. It's just too adorable.
Would you be comfortable doing AMAA? I want to nominate you but not if you're uncomfortable with the idea. Or, if you're uncomfortable, can I do it anyway? 🙂
Actually the weirdest ever was this year! I got an ice cream scoop. But not an ordinary one, it's gold with a metal, plaited handle. Super 80's bling. And it came with a tiny set of tongs. Just ordinary metal tongs but about a third the size.
That's a weird secret santa, don't you think?
I don't do them any more because I don't have a good track record but I do tell myself that every year is THE ONE! The year I'm going to turn my ENTIRE life around, get rid of EVERY bad habit and just be the GREATEST ME THAT EVER WAS!
I give up on about the 3rd of Jan.
Good question. I think I'm going to go with 'Turning negatives into positives" it's just a really great, simple way for people to change their perception of things, just on their own. It's proof to me that we all carry our own solutions, we just need a bit of help getting there.
