Books!
I spend my Sundays unwinding and spending hours reading books. Share your favourite books here!
The last book I read: 12 Years A Slave- Solomon Northup
- Page turner! Very graphic, couldn't bring myself to watch the movie :3
The book I am currently reading: Love Without Limits- Nick Vujicic
- Very inspirational!
Books I want to read next: The Alchemist-Paulo Coelho
- Apparently a good read, can't wait to start it

@Chessca_H Ah I loved that Susan Cain book! It makes some great arguments for why introversion is actually awesome 😛
I just finished Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. It was one of my Christmas presents. I enjoyed it, but I have to say, not even Jodi can bring me to sympathise with the prejudiced couple in the novel. My favourite of hers is still definitely Handle With Care.
If you enjoy short stories I would give Dangerous Laughter by Steven Millhauser a read! Recently finished reading Ready Player One and now can't wait to see the film version! Hopefully they don't mess it up!
I just finished Magnus Chase and the Hammer of Thor. Now what to read next... 😛
I was at the library this morning and stumbled across a copy of 12 Years A Slave - I've never actually read it so I thought I'd give it a go. Preparing myself to feel all the feels haha
Got some money from my brother to spend on Kindle books for Christmas and this is what I've got with it so far:
Bi: Notes for a Bisexual Revolution by Shiri Eisner
Excluded: Making Feminist and Queer Movements More Inclusive by Julia Serano
Quiet Power by Susan Cain
Just started reading Excluded yesterday, really interesting and informative so far!
@letitgo yay!! I haven't read any of his other books, but I will check them out in the holidays when there's more time. I've heard that 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven' is good!
@cupcakes_032 Yes, it is amazing! Apparently there's a movie of The Five People You Meet in Heaven, too, but I haven't watched it yet...
I put 'I Am Malalia' on hold at the library because one of my tutoring students is studying it and just got a notification that it had come in, so I hope I can pick it up tomorrow!
Hahahaha I agree. I always worry about what condition the books will come in
I liked 'Tuesdays with Morrie' by Mitch Albom. It's a relatively short book and easy to read. After I finished the book, I sort of lingered on it and was sad that there was no more of it to read - highly recommended!
@cupcakes_032I loooooove Tuesdays With Morrie, and Mitch Albom's work in general. Have you read any of his other books?
This might be a controversial opinion among fellow psych nerds, but I'm in the middle of reading Love's Executioner by Irving Yalom and... I'm not sure how I feel about it? Like obviously his incite into the process of therapy is amazing, but I'm not too keen on the way he tends to talk about women 😕
@Chessca_H Considering myself a psych nerd, I'm very disappointed that I haven't heard of Love's Executioner! Going to get onto that asap.
Has anyone read Kate Grenville's The Leuitenant? One of my tutoring students is studying it next year, so any insights would be much appreciated!
I've just started reading 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami and I'm liking it so far.
i just finished reading Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult
i absolutly fell in love with this book as it talks about the emotion behind why people choose their actions.
After finishing it I went to Elizabeths Bookshop in Newtown Sydney as they do "blind dates with a book" where the book is covered with brown paper with just a few words describing the book on the front (kind of like a lucky dip) 🙂
i was lucky enough to select The Innocent by David Baldacci which is proving to be quite interesting 🙂
