My favourite book is Man Search For Meaning by Dr Victor Franks. This book is the has river of emotions in it and it will definitely affect your emotional intelligence. How to survive in life is the main theme of this book. Positivity, spirituality, empathy and emotional intelligence coaching are some key points to get successful in life.

I've read a few books since I last posted here 😛

Currently halfway through The Last Voyage of Mrs Henry Parker by Joanna Nell, which I'm really enjoying! I loved her first book (The Single Ladies of Jacaranda Retirement Village) so had to check out her latest work 😄

My favourite book of all time is The Book Thief - Markus Zusak.

It is honestly such a beautiful story and really stuck with me since I first read it. I haven't read it in a few years because I'm just too excited to read new books. I always have an internal battle between wanting to re-read old books I've loved and wanting to start new books! New books generally win but I should definitely make time to re-read stories I've loved.

What does everyone else do when it comes to deciding between reading old or new books?

I'm definitely a new book person! I love how there are so many books out there I can read (and how many books I have bought and haven't opened as well oops).

I'm on Daring Greatly by Rene Brown at the moment but the book that got me into reading again was Sage's Eyes by VC Andrews 🙂

The Book Thief is one of the few books which has made me cry ugly tears @JullyBean. The ending is so sad and a pertinent reminder of what happened in WWII.

The Kite Runner is also one of my faves @hunginc! I love how vividly he was able to depict growing up in Afghanistan. Have you read any of his other works?

I’ve read a few books since I last posted here.

Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. TW for verbal abuse with this one - I must admit I didn’t see the ending coming and feel like it could’ve been done a bit better. The rest of the book was fantastic though.

The Time Keeper by Mitch Albom. LOVED it - his books are always a joy to read and I love the philosophies embedded within them.

Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty. TW for sexual assault and domestic violence with this one. I’ve almost finished reading it and think I figured out who the murderer is about halfway through, but it’s great at keeping you hooked 😛 HBO have also made a TV show out of it, but I haven’t watched because I hate that it’s set in the US (the book is originally Australian)

So it turns out I was totally wrong! 😮 such a suspenseful book.

I'm about to start one of her other books - Truly Madly Guilty 🙂

Truly Madly Guilty ended up being a pretty good read as well 🙂

I've now nearly finished Boy Swallows Universe by Trent Dalton. Has anyone else read it? It's quickly become a bit of an Aussie classic!

Can anyone recommend one of the 'classics' that is actually good?  I mean everyone has differing opinions and tastes and I don't mean to insult classic enthusiasts, but I feel like a lot of classics I have read are quite mundane.

Does anyone recommend a 'classic' that you really like?

@indieinsanus haha more than fair, some classics can be a bit dry to say the least 😛 i have some favs that took me foreveeerrr to read because they dragged so much in some places Smiley LOL

you might have already read some of these, but a few ones i've really enjoyed are:

pride and prejudice - so funny 🙂

dracula - super cool narrative structure, it's kind of like a collection of diary entries, transcripts, and newspaper clippings -plus vampires!

frankenstein - different from the movie adaptations but still awesome, it's kind of like a story within a story within a story etc. at times, but it gets back to things eventually i swear! Smiley LOL

i'm pretty sure all 3 books are available as free (and legal!) pdfs on the Project Gutenberg website if you're interested in checking them out 😄

@ecla34 Thank you for the recommendations. I actually bought pride and prejudice a few months back, but I didn't get past about ten pages because I thought it was kind of boring. However, I am determined to read it at some point, so I'll have to start soon.
