If you could change your name, What would it be?

Basically, I wish I had a different name. But I had to wonder what other people wished they're names could've been, if they got to choose.

My parents thought I was going to be a boy, and thought they'd call me Carl. When I heard this, I thought "WHAT THE HECK!!!!", and when I told them what I wish my name was, they said "We were going to name your little brother that". I was mind blown!

Anyways, I'll start.

I wish my name was Stella, Alexandria, Angel, or Delilah.
But my name means "Defender of God's People", so I like my name now too.

Feel free to add the origins and meanings of the name you'd choose! Just don't share what your name really is.
My name comes from Greek roots, which I think is pretty cool!

One thing I have always not really liked about my real name is that it's reallllly hard to make nicknames out of it, so when I was a kid I wanted my name to be 'Isabella' so that people could choose whether they wanted to call me Belle, Bella, or Issy! haha

A quick google tells me that 'Isabella' comes from 'Elizabeth' meaning 'Devoted to God' in Hebrew. Maybe that's why the British royals like the name??

I'm loving all the names you guys would like, or think are pretty cool!
I'm glad I made this thread.

Hmm...
@recharging_introvert, That's an interesting question. I wonder!

I really like the name Scarlett, but I'm not sure if it would suit me, so I don't know if I'd switch, but I love it!

@Maddy-RO I haven’t actually met you, so I wouldn’t know if it suited you or not... 😛
I currently picture you as a friend I had, with the same name as you! Different spelling, but still, I picture you with similar features! 😄

@Maddy-ROI had the name Scarlett for a little bit! I tried on a few different names over time Smiley Tongue I think if I were to change my name again, I think I'd choose one that's considered androgynous. Like Jesse or something. Then again, I'd say any name I have is androgynous anyway Smiley Very Happy

I've had passing thoughts of changing my name as I don't really feel all that attached to it, it feels too feminine for me... my mum almost named me Roxie and I kind of wish she had, it's always been one of my favourite names since I was very young, it just... has moxie! Smiley Tongue. Otherwise, I'm kinda drawn to more androgynous, unique names.

Something I worry about though is that if I one day have kids I won't be able to name them as I give my favourite names to characters I create! Smiley LOL

@HozzlesMaybe if you have kids they could share a name with one of your characters! They might find it really cool to hear stories that you came up with that have their name in them Smiley Very Happy

Hey there @xXLexi_Lou122Xx, this is a fantastic thread idea! It can be fun to look up name meanings and choose a name that you like 🙂

I've just edited the original post to be about sharing the meaning and origins of your chosen name instead of your real name, as some names can have very individual meanings or be a direct translation and could breach anonymity. I've moved it into Hanging Out as well for users who might not be interested in Games to also see, because it is also a fun distraction idea! Thank you again so much for creating this thread!

My name, Jay, is usually used as a nickname for names starting with j like James or Jacob, but for me it's not short for anything 🙂 Its roots are in English.

Thank you @Tiny_leaf @lokifish and Lexi for sharing what names you'd like!

@xXLexi_Lou122Xx I actually have changed my name, so I can't put that one up....

Though it comes from a Greek base as well!

Though if I hadn't found that name, I think I would've gone with Tory, which means "from the hills", though I can't remember the origin...

I love being on high ground for some reason, one of the places I've been dreaming of going is Tibet.

That's a pretty cool @Tiny_leaf!
Tory doesn't really stick out to me, but that's probably because of the T in it.
I guess I'm with you on the "High Ground" part. As long as it's not on a high ropes course! I don't mind them, as long as I can actually do the course.

Where is Tibet? I've never heard of that place before...

@xXLexi_Lou122Xx quick "crash course" of the link @lokifish posted;

It's a place in the Himalayas, Mount Everest for example has a Nepalese side and a Tibetan side.

I think it also shares a border with India.

From one point of view, it's a territory of China, from another point of view it's a country that China took over.

Like @lokifish said, it's the Dalai Lama's birth place, he's the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhism. He was exiled from China and Chinese held territories though, I think he lives in India now..?

It's a beautiful place from what I've heard, but there's a lot of political tension around it...

@xXLexi_Lou122Xx  Tibet is a region of China (although there's lots of politics involved with that...) It's where the Dalai Lama comes from 🙂

Here's the Wikipedia article if you feel like learning more 😛

In terms of names, I have a fairly common name but with an Irish spelling. It's therefore ALWAYS misspelled by people.

If I had to change it, I'd probably make my legal name Loki 😛

Loki would be a cool name, although I reckon your actually name is pretty cool too @lokifish ðŸ˜„

Hmm... my name means victory, honour and acheivement and when I think about it, I feel a bit deflated because it seems like a lot to live up to. Having said that, I'so used to being known by this name that I don't think I would ever change it. I do like the name Aurora, though. I read somewhere that it means 'dawn' 🙂
