Re: PTSD support thread

Great thread @scared01 I think you'll definitely get some input here.

What is the biggest misconception about living with PTSD? Any strategies for other members you can share?

Re: PTSD support thread

hmm i cant think right now about the misconception questions..

but i can answer any questions and id love to hear others thoughts as well.

one of the ways i deal with PTSD is as hard as it is trying not to completely avoid the situation im scared of. im afraid of dogs and before i couldnt even look at a picture of a dog or puppy. i can look at some pictures now just depends on the breed of dog

Re: PTSD support thread

hiya @j95

yes any suggestions?

do you see a psychologist for your PTSD?

do you still get nightmares from the event?

Re: PTSD support thread

Yeah I see one every fortnight at this stage @scared01 yeah I do have nightmares, it wasn't a single event but continuous trauma on a daily basis, my sleep is getting better with my night time routine

Re: PTSD support thread

everyone is different too, I guess for me I've been able to identify my behaviour and thought patterns and I'm currently learning how to like step back from the situation before letting my anger control me

Re: PTSD support thread

thats the same as me @j95 i had two events occur one you know about as your on my SA thread and also a dog attack as well

so they call that complex ptsd- or so ive been diagnosed anyway.

i think the ptsd is one of the hardest ones to deal with as i have socail phobia, health anxiety, ptsd, gad and depression.

im jsut about to start seeng a psychologist for the SA next week though i dont know how im going to go with that..

@redhead what atrategies do you sue to help yourself control it?
