Today I practiced self care by...

Hello people of RO Smiley Happy

I wanted to make a thread where we could all keep track of our self care and encourage each other to take care of ourselves.

Today I practiced self care by taking a break from my assignment for some fresh air. How did you practice self care today?

I am a newly formed fan of tea @MisoBear! It has changed the self-care game. I had a pretty full on day, so did some self-care on the way to work with my favourite tea and when I got home I settled in with a great book.

@Janine-ROI also use a special mug when I'm feeling particularly cosy! Smiley Very Happy

I'm a huge fan of drinking tea too @MisoBear , I'm a big fan of tea as a form of self-care Heart

Do you have any special mugs/ cups and saucers that you like to use? When I'm feeling really fancy I use a cup and saucer that was my Nanna's.

Today for self-care I caught an early train so that I had time to have a walk through the city before work, and took my time people-watching, listening to music and appreciating the chill in the air.

Yes, I have a really huge mug (we're talking the size of my head) that has my initial on it in gold. I looooove it!

OK, so mine is actually yesterday but I will reap the benefits today! I practiced self-care by making a giant lasagna, took the time to slow cook the meat sauce and did an extra cheesy bechamel as well, it was cold and rainy and I figured some comfort food would be really nice after work today! I listened to some podcasts while I cooked and watched the rain outside, and now I don't have to worry about what to cook for dinner tonight. Win win!

@Janine-RO  isn't just the best when your routine and self-care have really good synergy like that? And like technology is useful and good and comforting (ie. you enjoyed the podcast) instead of it being all-consuming and mind-boggling? It's the greatest 🙂

Today I practiced self care by turning off Twitter for the rest of the day so I didn't fuel my anxiety about the current issue 🙂 Then I laughed really hard at some Tik Toks! Smiley LOL

Today I practiced some self-care by starting to plant a veggie garden! I have never gardened before, I do not doubt that I will lose some plants before I start but it was great to get some fresh air and a podcast with some manual labour!

Absolutely, @Taylor-RO !

@JazzInMay  I love that idea for self-care, I am also starting a veggie garden! I know we probably won't actually end up growing a huge amount to eat (we have extremely hungry possums where we live!) but I'm finding the whole process really therapeutic. I also read some research that suggests that just getting your hands in the dirt can be great for your physical and mental health, and I have to say I am getting a bit addicted to gardening!

What are you going to plant? I still need to prepare my beds (have a crapload of weeding to do before I can start properly), but I got beetroot seeds, corn seeds, eggplant seeds and peas. We also have some mandarin trees that are fruiting for the first time in 2 years which is a bit exciting 😉

@Janine-ROmy veggie garden is currently just separate pots on the deck haha until I find actual garden bed space for them but I planted some beans, some tomatoes and some lettuce. I have zucchini to go! Us too, plenty of possums and bats who like to fight in the fig and avocado trees so I am pretty sure I won't have many grown plants myself Smiley LOL

But yummy - all those seeds, especially eggplant seeds! Can't wait to hear how they grow Smiley Happy

Today I took the time out of my morning to go to a gym class, do a small meditation, and complete mindful movements/stretches before I headed out into my day. I am so glad that I got up earlier to complete these self care activities, it helps me feel more energised and ready for my day! Smiley Very Happy

I really love the idea of self-care not having to be big gestures and big ideas. It can be as simple as making yourself a cup of tea or listening to some music!

For me, today I self-cared by playing the guitar when I was feeling a bit overwhelmed from work.

Keep looking after yourselves 🙂

I woke up feeling quite anxious today! Unsure why but I practiced self-care by playing some of my favourite songs and singing along to them while writing a list of what I need to do for today. I already am feeling better!
