Today I practiced self care by...
Hello people of RO
I wanted to make a thread where we could all keep track of our self care and encourage each other to take care of ourselves.
Today I practiced self care by taking a break from my assignment for some fresh air. How did you practice self care today?
Today I practiced self care by getting up a bit early and having a 40 minute walk before I started work- it was cool and crisp, and I listened to one of my favourite podcasts (Reply All ). It really gave me a lift and my energy levels are so much higher now.
I absolutely love walking in autumn - always makes me think of this movie too for some reason
@Janine-RO autumn walks are so cleansing, glad you got to experience that! What's the movie in your gif?
... taking myself out early for a big walk along the creek. I didn't want to because it was starting to spit rain but I put my coat on and rugged up and actually found the rain on my face so nice! I definitely needed the fresh air after being cooped up all weekend.
Today I practiced self care by taking a small walk around my house to get some fresh air. Please remember that although this may be a tough time to get through, always get a chance to keep your healthy habits going on 🙂
going for a walk-jog to the servo and buying myself some OJ, im mostly staying at home because of the corona virus but i made it a daily thing to go for walks around the neighborhood to keep me feeling sane. This is my first time writing on this forum so I guess this also a form of self care? anyways, looking forward to making some buddies and unleashing my thoughts on here...
PEACE!
Today I self cared by having two coffees instead my usual morning one as Fridays are like Mondays to me, long and with lots to do!
This is probably the weirdest way I have made my self feel better. But, here it goes...
I put on plastic gloves and felt like a surgeon. I don't know why but I feel so badass. Like I'm in a movie or something. I love it!
@Symphony7 welcome to the forums! It's really lovely to have you here, and I think a lot of us definitely find writing here to be a form of self-care!
Going for a walk for some OJ sounds like a great idea, I am also finding daily walks to be so important for my mental health! There are lots of birds where we live, and I love seeing how active they are in the mornings now that there's so much less traffic.
@Bee that sounds like a fabulous form of self-care - cats and sunshine are so good for the soul. How are they adjusting to your new place?
Today for self-care I sat outside in the sun and watched my garden with a cup of hot lady grey tea, while we had our morning team meeting.
I feel so grateful to have some outdoors space and am finding even weeding to be super therapeutic. Our gardenias are blooming again and they are my favourite flower in the world.

Aw, that is awesome @Bee ! The other day when I was out for a walk around our neighborhood I met a couple who had their cat in what looked like a version of a baby carrier, it was hilarious!
It looked quite a bit like this, but they were wearing it on their front - and the cat was absolutely enormous. So funny, they said they had only got it the other day. When I was in Japan I saw quite a lot of people with these on the trains, but I haven't seen many here
Today for self-care I sat outside with a cup of tea and listened to the rain on the roof
Today I practised self-care by having a nap when a migraine returned.
@Bee it was really adorable, but my cats would definitely hate it too!! To be honest their cat didn't look overly impressed but was tolerating it okay.
Its face was still a bit grumpy cat-esque though
I'm glad that you were able to have a nap when you had a migraine, are you feeling better today? Migraines really can be awful 😞
Today for self-care I spent some time weeding the garden, and noticed 2 new gardenias that bloomed overnight. They are my favourite flower and it made me feel really happy to have taken the time to notice them.
@Janine-ROhaha I love that grumpy cat face 🙂
The migraine passed after a while 🙂 They're terrible though, just thankful my body responded to my treatments 🙂
Those flowers are pretty! I have some pretty ones in my garden too, which I was going to photograph today but completely forgot
I practiced self-care today by getting some sunshine this morning and playing in the back yard with the cats.
I'm practicing self-care by taking a break from study today when it's confusing me and making me feel agitated.
@Bee I'm glad that the migraine eventually passed, they sound really awful. I'm glad that they do respond to treatment though.
Sunshine, fresh air, and cats is a great recipe for self-care if you ask me!
@Lacuna99 totally agree that fresh air and exercise are great ways to look after our well-being at such a weird time in all of our lives.
Today, my self-care was also exercise based! I went for two long walks, one before I started work and one just now with my daughter on my lunch break. Did us both so much good to get out of the house and exchange smiles and hellos with the people we saw along the way. Plus, our destination was our local bakery, so we also had treats for lunch. Spinach and ricotta triangles are also a valuable form of self-care if you ask me!
I love the flowers! I'm not a gardener but I love looking at pretty flowers:)
Today I'm practicing self-care by having a nap and icing my hand and wrist. Have had it braced the last couple days and the pain is not improving so hopefully the ice will take some swelling away and ease some pain 🙂
I'll also watch something on stan later to chill 🙂
Today I practised self care by having big cuddles with my puppy Papaya and taking a little walk in my local area before jumping online 🙂
I also took a few photos of pretty things in my garden which made me smile
This is giant- it’s a monstera flower and you can eat the fruit inside eventually
Today I practised self-care with a little bit of (reasonable) procrastination before study and by reading/catching up on the Bi Visibility: Ask a Pro chat thread.
