But it has to be purrrrfect!

Have you ever had that feeling of wanting something to be absolutely perfect? This could happen in various areas of life, for example, study, work, health, sports or creative endeavours - sometimes it just never seems to be 'good enough'.

Perfectionism has good and bad aspects. On the positive side, it might help us strive to do the best we can. But when we criticise ourselves for not being able to reach unrealistically high standards, perfectionism can become unhelpful.

On Monday 12th December at 8pm (AEDT), we'll be chatting about perfectionism, how it can affect our lives, and how to manage it if it gets in the way of what we really want!

hmmm... tricky question! i think perfect depends on the situation, if that makes sense

I think s good thing about perfection is that it's unatainable, as someone who has learned to love journeys more than the destination, that makes me happy, because there's always a bit more to explore or discover 🙂 Took me a while to learn to see that things that way though, and i still get caught in the trap of thinking about what something i have made isn't, rather than appreiciating what it is!

i think perfect is definitely an unattainable concept. that's something i'd add to my earlier post, actually...

If it wasn't for perfectionism, I wouldn't have got the marks for uni; finished my undergrad and be doing masters (but masters isn't going perfectly)

@loves netball getting into a masters is a huge achievement! Well done on pushing through even when things aren't perfect 🙂

What is your idea of ‘perfect’?

I completely agree with @Chessca_H. It doesn't always align to the common or widely recognised idea of 'perfect', but often stems from my own expectations of myself or a particular situation.

Hey everybody, so excited for this chat! Definitely applies to me a lot of the time 😛

What is your idea of ‘perfect’?

I guess my idea of perfect woud be the very best a situation could go, or my own personal idea of what the best outcome would be regardless of how realistic it may/may not be.

What is your idea of ‘perfect’?

I think perfection is always changing, its like that uttainable pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. I keep trying to get it but I never can!

@Stealth_ninja totally agree with the "pot of gold at the end of the rainbow" thing, the goal post always tend to move on to the next thing once you get to where you wanted to be before. So frustrating!
