GR - Resilience - Apr 1st!
Have you ever been really tested by life and come out the other side feeling like a Superhero minus the ability to fly? I'm talking the worst day/week/month/year of your life and come out stronger on the other side?
That my friends is resilience. By definition it means: the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. But to all of us it will mean many different things.
It could mean having an argument with your BFF and learning from it.
It could mean dealing with the loss of a loved one and healing from that.
Resilience does not discriminate and takes many different shapes and sizes to be built. All of us here today are demonstrating resilience just by being here.
Join us on the 1st of April 2019 at 7:30pm (AEDT) to talk about what resilience means to you and discuss how we can build resilience to overcome adversity in our lives.
Now I know how uni will feel like when I get the in 5 years time!
//You are strong, You are beautiful, You are enough//
Everyone feel free to join in on the chat!

Hey @ecla34!
Resilience to me means learning from experiences in the past and coming back from them, stronger than ever, using support resources that are available to you as weapons. I've been going through a really hard time at the moment but there have been many moments in my life where I have been resilient. I guess one example would be when I suffered depression in high school as a result of bullying, sexual harassment and substance abuse and some other factors. I would not go to school, I was a terrible student and didn't take school seriously at all. I was failing tests.
Two years later, I had gained some more life experience and travelled overseas, which really changed everything for me. I discovered my passion, which I am now studying at university, and ended up being one of the top students in the state, and accepted into the top university of the country. I changed my behaviours, attitude, everything. I didn't allow my past to get me down. I believed in myself and set a goal that I worked so hard to achieve, despite my dark past and struggles. I wanted to turn my life around more than anything.
I don't know how I did it, but resilience, in any form, can really bring significant changes.
@blissfulhope thank you so much for sharing your experiences! i can see that you've been through such a long and hard journey and come out the other side still kicking. I really loved your point about learning and drawing from past experiences -i think that's a key part of building resilience- and using resources around you as weapons, almost like you're going on the offensive against life 😛
So push towards what you believe when lies begin
🙂 !
