Uni Student Support Squad
Otherwise known as USSS! I'm back at uni this week, and I know some of you are too so let's commiserate over assignment deadlines, share studying tips and practice deep breathing together!
This is my 'I need to study but completely suck at executive functioning' list that I made for myself for next semester, in case it helps anybody else 🙂
Studying 2017
- Choose somewhere to work
- Choose something from your sensory kit to fiddle with
- Check your leaning guides to see what needs to be completed
- Choose one task at a time
- Set an amount of time that you’re going to work on it
- Remind yourself of your goals
- Take a break every 25 minutes
- Keep a glass of water with you
- Check in with yourself – breathing? Thoughts? Mood? Tension?
- Highlight task in learning guide once finished
- Celebrate finishing the task!
- Remind yourself that you’re one step closer to achieving your goals!
@DruidChild That's an awesome list! I wish I was that organised about making my study experience good when I was studying 😛
Great list @DruidChild! It seems that it's taken insight and a lot of thought to come up with that 🙂
It'll be easier to figure stuff out once the year starts and you've actually got the work, because then you can figure out how to do it. 🙂
Think I'll be making use of this thread when I go back to uni this year!
@DruidChild YAY CONGRATS! 😄 Only the best people become nurses 😉
Whoa I've been reading an old biology textbook and it's all so cool and amazing it's so cool it's just so so cool *screams with excitement, hands going everywhere*
Yesss biology is so awesome @DruidChild! 😄 You'll find nursing a breeze if you can wrap your head around anatomy and physiology
Hey everyone!
I just wanted to check in on my fellow uni students. How is everyone going? I just finished my first of two exams yesterday. It went okay, trying to stay positive and hoping my next one I will nail! I'm doing an Honours year this year so extra work on top of classes, but making time for self-care as well.
I let myself have the day off today after I finished a shift at work, just listened to some music and chilled out. How is every else holding up?
Hi @MisoBear, really loving the check ins!
So great to hear you are making time for self care- the uni semester can get super hectic, so winding down at the end and giving your mind and body the time to recover is important
Just wanted to send a big WELL DONE to all the amazing uni students out there- we are coming to the end of the semester! Sometimes the end of semester exams and assessments and can feel like this:
And getting to this point of the semester takes some serious courage and perseverance! Hoping that you are able to get some self care time in the uni break
We are here to chat if you need to unwind
Perfect gifs considering I've just started rewatching Parks and Rec!
I have finally settled on a decision and am graduating at the end of this semester!!! Results come out next week, but I already know I passed (no exams and I passed most of my assignments, enough to pass the entire unit) so yay to that!
The next step is telling my parents that I'm actually not studying next semester... I'm sure it'll be fiiine though... (I can just tell them I'm taking a break because having a breakdown before every assignment can't be the right way to study)
So yeah. I AM FINISHED WITH UNI. DONE, FINITE and if I have my way, I am never returning to the uni I studied at. It was a fine uni, but the administration was garbage. Impossible to find any information, useless contact info and just a plain mess.
Anywho....
