Weekly Wellbeing Activity: Learn a new word!
Weekly Wellbeing Activity: Words words words!
Who doesn't love sounding smart and expressing things in a new way?
(Okay maybe this is one for word nerds like myself...)
This week's challenge is:
1. Learn a new word
2. Use it in conversation a few times.
OR
3. Learn a word from a different language that we don't have an equivalent for in English.
4. Post about it in this thread!
It can be anything from a fancy adjective, to a word that doesn't get used much in your circle.
I'll start us off:
"Wirble"= to whirl or turn round and round
Let's get creative!

A word I came across recently while studying is
Verschlimmbessern (in German)
Which is to make something worse whilst trying to make it better. Definitely a relateable concept (anyone tried to even out a haircut? ich habe meine Frisur verschlimmbessert 😛 )
I learnt a word that has fallen out of use in English - it was mentioned in a book I'm reading.
"Unsoul-clogged," which refers to a state of being cleansed of sadness after having experienced it.
The book, if anyone's interested, was called The Uses of Sadness. 🙂
Here's a word that not many people say all the time:
Antidisestablishmentarianism.
It means:
opposition to the disestablishment of the Church of England.
Weirdly, it's a noun...
// Nothing is impossible. The word itself says "I'm Possible" //
I am just going to tag a few members who have been online today

Hey everybody!
I've just been giggling at Oxford Dictionaries Weird and Wonderful Words (for this post!) and I came across the word apple-knocker.
It means an ignorant or unsophisticated person. for example,
Person 1: My goodness, did you hear what Tina did to Tom last night at the party?
Person 2: Yeah, what an apple-knocker!
I just thought it was interesting! It may not be as weird as your word @Jess1-RO , but I didn't want to start off with a big word. It's been my New Year's Resolution to learn a new word everyday! This is a wonderful idea!
love and hugs,
blobby 🙂
