1. Roughly how many hours per week you use technology?

Way too many, i pretty much use it from when i wake up until when i go to bed :s I read books on technology, i ride to work on technology, i work in and with technology, I even track my food and health stuff on technology. I'm not even sure if i can write with a pen and paper anymore, because i almost always type, but if i did, well papers and pens are technology too. OH NOO IT'S EVERYWHERE HALP!

I reckon I'd spend a solid amount of time per week on technology, maybe 20+ hours. I find that a problem that comes from this is that I also use it a lot for things like university and homework, which blends wayyyyy too easily into recreational use.

@basketofmonkeys i feel ya. Just before this GR started I had 7 tabs open, shows downloading, phone call on speaker and visual eyewear technology on my face (glasses) - which I need because computers ruined my eyes 😞

What are some of the positives of technology? How do the positive aspects of technology help you with your overall health?

Well i try really hard to be conscious of my use of technology and minimise the impacts... although it's something i am still working on. So mostly it's good for me. I try to use it to strengthen my weaknesses and get better at stuff, so i am not very good at remembering lots of things, so i write it down using technology, I am not very good at getting into habits, so i use it to remind me of my motivation and to get started on the habit. What i am not very good at doing is removing that support when i no longer need it... so i think i think it helps, but sometimes it doesn't get me all the way to doing it all by myself... if that makes sense

Hi everyone! Sorry I'm late!

1. Roughly how many hours per week you use technology?

Well, I'm on a computer for work, but aside from that I use my laptop for studying and I watch a few hours of Netflix a week. Sooo... at least 14 hours. Geez. Need to work on that!

If we're talking technically then 24/7 because nearly our whole world is technology whether it be a pen, paper, heater, computer, phone or even a table.

Talking about tech relevant to this chat like computers and phones I'd say too much although it's something I have to rely pretty heavily on for school.  If I had to guess I'd say about 5-6 hours maybe.

So many hours! It would be difficult to estimate. @Ben-RO I am the same - wake up using it, ride using it, use it on public transport, when I am waiting, in class, when studying and during leisure time!

(Game of thrones watchers.....what an episode....)

So it's safe to say we all use technology a lot!

@StarLord is it true that it can ruin your eyes? I always wondered about that, but you're a bit of a medical expert, so now I'm worried!

StarLord

Well I changed jobs from one where I spent about 2hrs a day on the computer to one where I spent 2-8 hrs on the computer per day and over just a few months, my eyesight went downhill dramatically and I had to start wearing my glasses nearly all the time. It's ok though.
Not sure we can definitely say computer screens wreck eyes but I noticed personally a correlation.

With technology our eyes are being strained pretty much 24/7 so a lot of people might need glasses/could benefit from them without realising it 🙂 @Ben-RO always good to get eyes tested if they get sore looking at screens/readings lots

Hmm mine get sore but  according to the Opthamolawhatsit I can still see good @May_ but apparently soreness is caused by another type of technology- airconditioning!

Okay so i think we're starting to hit this next question already, so i thought i might go ahead and ask it!

What do you primarily use technology for? (for example: social media, talking to friends, games, etc. etc.

I primarily use it for studying e.g. researching different articles on the internet, typing up assignments, social media (Facebook, tumblr, Twitter) and watching Netflix. Sooooo much Netflix.
