Self Care

There is often times where we need to take time out and look after ourself. Sometimes it can be hard to know what to do to look after ourself, we can be stuck for ideas on how we can be nice to ourself.

Many times I've found when I've been told to do something nice for myself I sit there and think "what am I supposed to do?". It's different for everyone and I'm wondering what other people do.

What is one nice thing that you have done for yourself today?

(If you're unsure take a look at what other people have said and try and do somehting similar for yourself)

I'll start, I lit my lavender candle put some calming music on and played mahjong before doing some study

I've had a really busy and intense day today, so I'm looking after myself tonight by relaxing, watching TV and doing nothing in particular.

I've been taking care of myself physically and mentally. Taking breaks when needed, not pushing myself too far, knowing my limits and saying "no I just can't do that right now"

I took care of myself today by not putting pressure on myself with some of my coursework.

In one instance I decided to go with the easier option so I know I won't be overloading myself.

In some others I spoke honestly to some teachers about where I am with my coursework.

I let myself off studying last night to spend a night in the kitchen baking cookies, something I really enjoy 🙂

I've been working at my own pace. I haven't tried to push myself beyond what I can do at the current moment.

I've been saying 'yes' to social invitations where I can instead of socially isolating myself 🙂

Also bought myself a new dress from Dotti today that I've had my eye on for a while now. It's so preeeetty 🙂

I took some time out this afternoon to just sit down and read- something which I enjoy doing but have been neglecting lately. It's great for taking my mind off things 🙂

I treated myself to a glass of Coke this evening for the first time in ages - it tasted so good! hahaha

What's everybody else been doing to help look after themselves lately? This thread needs a bit of love! 🙂

At the moment I'm reblogging happy pictures on Tumblr to distract me from my anxiety.

This week I've been making time to play the piano everyday which has been a really nice way to chill out.

Sounds good everyone 🙂 Keep it up

I've been blogging positive and inspiring pictures on tumblr recently, it's really lifted my mood, and I'm getting some really nice msg from people about my blog 🙂

I've taken time out to do a couple creative bits too! I started the scrapbook with pictures from my brothers wedding at which I was bridesmaid - it was soo good to start it finally. ANd it's looking nice, I've got a fair few pages to do still though.

I've tried not to overwork myself when doing homework. I'm stopping when I'm starting to get distressed - which it good I guess 🙂

I listened to some meditation music last night to to fall asleep. I woke this morning around 7 (big deal as I've been waking around 11-12!) and felt rather content and positive. Thinking that track and those alike are going to be my nightime music!

@dd - sounds like a relaxing evening. It's great that you've developed strategies to help you get through any anxious periods. Good job!

I've been making sure my sleeping patterns are more regular and I've definitely noticed a change in my energy and mood levels.
