It's like Twitter...but on Reach Out! Basically post status updates. No more than 140 characters if you're following the rules, but most of us will probably end up breaking that rule any way! 😛
Yay I'm happy to see you back @loves netball! 🙂 I wanted to check in with you again but I didn't want to pressure you to be online if it wasn't being helpful to you. I'm sorry it was a tough week. Hugs. Tell us about those positives you found?
Today we learnt about how to quick read, and read to see if the it's relevant, so basically a type of skim reading. We also did a lot on essay writing, structure and how to use sources in the essay/other assignments. We also had a session on presentations and how to get the most out of our tutorials. And covered some stuff about anxiety over presentations exams. The thing I learnt most today was about how important preparation and planning is.
@N1ghtW1ng that sucks. I shall give you a cyber hug

Sounds like a useful class @redhead 🙂 I hope you can do something nice for yourself tonight to unwind after today!
Sorry to hear that @N1ghtW1ng 😞 I know you were hoping to do those workshops. How frustrating!
That's just so flaky! I'm so unlikely to get anything after that happens. I mean, just look at it from her point of view, and I must be the worst person. 😞
And everything about this cashier job is perfect when you just look at it as a job. It's walking distance, it doesn't clash with uni because it's evenings and weekends but the pay is shit (and probably not even consistent. First, ask for a pay slip, then ring the number if it's low) but it also hurts my wrist, the people who work there have started to make me feel uncomfortable and I'm so sick and tired of being called "darling".
In other news, I'm looking for another job. Just because I lost Tuesdays, doesn't mean that holidays aren't open and I can always go in when needed. (except for Mondays *cries*)
All the tutoring jobs I've applied for have failed. I think I'll email that school that told me to ask again mid february (I'd almost forgotten about them) but every place I've emailed, it's all flopped because "we don't need you".
Something will come. I just have to hold out.
I'll probably need my own car too. Oh how the world hates me!
But I'll be having lasange tonight! Just say the word out loud, because I can't spell 😛
It's frustrating but I'm sure she understands @N1ghtW1ng - it's not your fault that you have classes or dentist appointments. When I was doing volunteer work they were pretty used to students switching days and stuff because of lectures, hopefully the workshop people will be the same 🙂
The cashier job sounds like it's a really negative experience for you - I really hope something comes up for you soon! You shouldn't have to work somewhere that makes you feel uncomfortable. I think knowing that you just have to hold on because something will come up is a good mindset to have. Are you qualified to work in a preschool or child care? There might be other job options there - sometimes those places have after school care attached as well. Or swim teaching or sport teaching, anything like that?
Yum lasagne Enjoy!
I did have a swim instructor offer. And, I panicked because I was scared. First off, I'd have to do a swim instructor course, which uses a CD which my laptop doesn't have space for (I know external cd drives are a thing, but I'd have to get one). And second, well it was(is, I guess) right next to my uni. Which is a plus for that, but also not so good trying to get home. I suppose, with my new timetable, I could do days. I suppose, I think I should email them again and see if the position is still open. I did tell them last year that around this time I'd have my license and would be able to travel easier (well, that was my excuse for not taking the job)
I'm not really qualified to work in preschool or childcare. All I have is a blue card and a working-towards a Bachelor of Primary Education.
But I can hope! 🙂
It's great you are seeing some positives about all of this @N1ghtW1ng. It can be hard when you are competting against 1000's of others for such a limited array of jobs. But keep trying, because the perfect job will probably be just around the corner 🙂
Thanks. 🙂 It kind of sucks that I'm basically going to be unable to do this really awesome job regularly because of uni (and the conflicting thing is a lecture that I can't move :()
I just so need another job. I hate this cashier job so much.
Oh and I also prepared my uni binder/folder by drawing on the five separators (ahh so pretty! One unit is called becoming a teacher and I drew an apple. I might post pictures tomorrow :P) I also put in plastic sleeves for each section and a Star Wars book. 🙂
Oh and I got up when the cat was scratching instead of rolling back to sleep.
So...an semi-productive day. I didn't do what I'd planned (ugh it was so hot, even in my room with the fan on high), I still did stuff.
I'm so annoyed because I missed out on doing regular workshops(for the new job) on Tuesdays because of the stupid-ass dentist. But I can do some on Wednesdays, and I suppose I can jump in when needed but man, it sucks so much!
Oh... yeah I've just remembered that Monday's is when I finish late at uni so I actually can't do it once uni starts. Just, *incoherent grumbling*
Huge props to you for getting through a hard day, and using RO as a good distraction @redhead 🙂 What was your class on? Hope it was interesting 🙂
Yeah I'm feeling ok, bit better, never got through to suicide call back service though, waited ages
Hahaha, that's great @j95 sounds like a pretty easy $170 to me! Hope you had some good undies on haha.
Argh, yeah I know the wait time can be a problem, especially on the weekends when other services are closed. There's a lot of pressure on helplines at that time but it's not good enough really! I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, you obviously did a good job of coping despite not being able to access SCBS's support. Good work!
